Halogen headlight control unit??

I've been having some issues with the lighting in my car recently so I took my 2006 e90 into the stealership to see just what exactly is going on with the vehicle.

Issue: Headlights will stay on when car is off, and signals sometimes to not work. I can bypass this problem by leaving the headlight switch in auto (for some reason this works). I have aftermarket HID headlights installed, but the vehicle initially came with halogens.

The dealership just called me and said that my headlamp control unit is fried and will cost at least $500 to fix.

Is there even a headlamp control unit for halogen e90's? If so, where is the unit located and is it easy to replace?

I just feel like the dealership is trying to pull a fast one on me.

Thanks in advance!!!!
