M performance brake kit retrofit to e92?
Does anyone know if this is possible in any way? I have done quite a bit of searching but have not found anything definitive.
To clarify I am talking about buying the M Performance Brake Kit from bmw for the new F30 cars and fitting them to my 09' E92 Kit is found here http://www.shopbmwusa.com/ProductDet...3822&perf=true If there is any way to make this work it seems like a great alternative to a stoptech or brembo kit upwards of $7,000

I have read through both of those and as usual there is no concise answer. Some say no swap, others say caliper but no rotor, others say with 19" wheels fulldirect swap of rotors/calipers. It is all over the place. I am talking with my local shop foreman and parts guys to try and narrow this down. If i can get anything confirmed I may attempt to buy the kit and be a guinea pig.

Excellent!!
More information on rear fitment What engine do you have? Is it XI? What did you do to center caliper & rotor? Did you change rear wheel Hubs? What spacers did you use? What did you do in the front?

This is nothing new. Has been done front and rear, on e90, shortly after the brakes became available on the market. These photos has been taken over a year ago.

I will post a diy shortly. All with the oem part numbers You need to do it with ease. My friend posted his diy in Polish and I just need to find time to translate it from Polish.
I know that somebody did this a year ago but he statet thay this is a very difficult modification (wrong!) , made a big mystery of it and didnt post any detailed info on how to do it. |

Is not a mystery. I can answer all the questions. Go ahead ask...
Easy? Yes, if you know what you are doing and if you have access to lathe machine. If you don't is pretty much impossible to do. Otherwise, you will see this kit on almost every e90 here. Also is good Idea to install M3 brake master cylinder for better brake feel. Last edited by feuer; 04-12-2015 at 08:54 AM.. |

Above photos are from my car. I'm not writing you here of a guy who knows a guy that have done this. I know this first hand.
f30 and e90 rotors are identical height. f30 rotors sits perfectly on e90. Don't know about e82 since my car is e90. However, the caliper offset is wrong and the mounting tubs needs to be shaven in order to fit between the knuckles and the rotor and be centered. Additionally, the holes on the knuckle needs to be enlarged since f30 calipers uses bigger bolts. However, is possible that there is better way as with everything else in life! Waiting on Wlodi to tell us more... |

on e90 I guess you can use e82 135i hubs in order not to have the caliper milled down. How ever for me was easier to mill it down. 135i hubs would add 10mm rendering my 18x10 et 25 rear rims useless as they wound not longer with under the fender.
Additionally, only half of the parking brake surface will be usable and most of that mechanism will be exposed. When changing the hub a bearing replacement might be needed as well adding to the total cost in both parts and labor. Other then that I have no idea how you can install the caliper with out modifying it. |
