My 1st Zaino

Ok - I have had my car for about a month now and have been reading these boards (e90post/bimmerfest) for about 3 months and have been evangelized. This is my first "car detail" job, so just want to see what you think. My detail included the following:

1. Wash with dawn - 2 sheepskin mitts, 2 buckets (1 wash 1 rinse with grit guard). Each mitt is dedicated to lower vs. upper halves of the car (change bucket water in between. Water sheet action to dry and finished up with Waffle MF.
2. Z-18 w/Z-7, H2O mixture as lubricant. My 1st time claying and all I can say is wow. I clayed everything, windows, rims, chrome tips. BTW...while claying I used this roller seat (http://www.partsxdirect.com/asearch.aspx?aid=547). It really helps you clay, seal, wash tires, etc.).
3. Z2 w/ZFX (again seat helps with this) to dry (very light haze - hard to see in garage) - wipe off with MF
4. Z6 - wipe off with other MF
5. Z2 w/ZFW
6. Z6
7. Poorboys Wheel sealant for Rims
8. Poorboys Bold & Bright for Tires

All together took about 6-7 hours (I washed and clayed on Thursday night and finished the Z2/Z6 and tire prep today.)

how much did you pay for that roller seat? my knees kill me while i have to clean the lower portion.

I think I paid about $30 - worth every penny. It keeps you from rushing your work for you are comfortable. Also the seat adjusts up or down.

Thanks guys - I appreciate it. And you are right pander5...my wife was like I can't believe you are spending all that time on the car...now that she sees the results, the Pilot is in line next.

Nice detail job! I have been using Poorboy's Bold and Bright for my wheels (and other rubber) for several years now. I buy it by the gallon.

Ok - I now see how much it was worth "Zainoing" my car. Z7 hand wash today + Z6 time = 30 minutes. A little poor boys (dawgdog validated my purchase) on the wheels and I was good to go...Looks as great as last week.

And if you want to add a coat of Z2/ZFX along the way, only an extra 30-45 minutes, depending on your speed. It only gets better as more coats are applied.
