About $900 for parts, $400 for labor/paint

The bumper cover needs replaced. MSRP is $962, online price at getbmwparts is $770 plus freight shipping. The diffuser should be repainted or probably replaced, $90. Reflector is another $30. So yeah, about $900. You asked for help, I gave you a good estimate, then you question it

All things being equal that price isn't out of the realm of possibilities. The labor involved with trying to repair plastic body parts often exceeds the price to remove, refinish, and replace the part(s).

And, with a few exceptions, it doesn't matter if it's a Ford Focus or a BMW getting fixed!

I too find the BMW shifter a little confusing from time to time and I ALWAYS take an extra few seconds to verify what gear (or park) I've wound up in.

BMWs used to be so intuitive that you could drive / shift with your eyes closed - NO MORE!!

Hey Imortalo8, the reason I know pricing is that some idiot hit my car at the grocery store a month ago or so and my damage is very, very similar to the damage to your car. My car isn't an M Sport but I am converting my rear bumper to the M Sport style.

The $400 labor includes removing your existing bumper and reinstalling the new one, as well as the labor to paint the new bumper. The bumpers come primed, but not painted from BMW.

If your repair facility wants to repair your existing bumper, rather than replace it, you may save a couple of bucks, but you may end up with a problem down the road. My bumper was damaged just like yours and even my insurance adjuster agreed that the bumper should be replaced. I thought I would have to fight to get it replaced, but didn't have to.

Labor rates in LA may be higher than Houston, but the parts should be the same. Get a couple of estimates if you are much different than $1300.

I can say Ive done this before in my past E60. +1 the bumper should be replaced. I would replace the diffuser as well.

Thanks for your reply to my post. I got three estimates today and it was between $750-$900 with all three estimates. I tried to save some cost being that I don't want to go through the insurance I picked up a rear diffuser of the forum for $75. That easily saves me the part and the paint and labor on that end. Also, my rear reflector was obviously broken too and picked one up today OEM for 18$. Now all that's left is this damn bumper issue. One of the estimators said that the sensor might "give your problems, but come back and we will reset the sensor". Found that a bit weird. The sensors work just fine as before. I just don't want to mess more things up on my baby. I hate lamp posts!!!!!!

I assume none of the 3 estimates are replacing the bumper cover and they are all repairing it?

The diffuser does come pre-finished in the dark grey color, so it does not need to be painted like the bumper cover.

Yes exactly. All those estimates are just for the repairing the bumper. Was also told the diffuser does not come painted. This is why I did a forum hunt on one.
