Suspension options for Street / Track 335is

I have a 335is that is part daily driver, part weekend track toy. 2-3 track outings a month. I have a lot of experience on the track, but lets just say I've been spoiled when it comes to cars. What is a good "value" in the world of suspension upgrades for my vehicle? I don't care about height or look. It doesn't have to be adjustable. I only want a good blend of track performance and every day use at a reasonable price.

I have been told Koni Yellows (or Billsteins) and Eibach springs with anti-roll bars are a good option?

What about the Eibach Pro Street S coilovers, which are about the same price as the above mentioned configuration?

Any help is appreciated.

TBH your question does not make any sense ... read last sentence in the first paragraph.

So are you saying that is not possible?

A quality set of struts/shocks and springs is a good option if you don't want to go with coilovers. Koni Yellows may be a good option because you can at least adjust the rebound.

You can also upgrade to all of the M3 suspension bits (control arms, tension rods, upper links, etc...), sway bars, subframe bushings, and an LSD. It all depends on how much you want to spend and what you're really looking to get out of the car.

I'm not inclined to spend $3000 on coilovers......yet. So am I better off going with a set of Koni's and springs or a set of "less expensive" coilovers like the Eibach pro street s?

I would get a set of michelin pss tires and a lsd and then go from there the stock suspension is pretty good.

+1, tires and LSD will offer more value for the dollar, for track performance. Add some camber plates and a good alignment to really get things moving.

For dampers, Koni Yellows/Sports + your choice of springs are a good value and will provide reliable performance on-track. For a complete Koni kit, look to Ground Control or TC Kline.

I have the Koni Yellows and H&R Sport springs and I really like the combination. There is a noticeable improvement over the stock components without sacrificing too much ride comfort. I am adding some Dinan camber plates this weekend.

Have you ditched your RFTs yet?

I would start with good tires, camber plates and then take the car to track if you haven't already. Get to know the vehicle on street and track before you mod suspension. One of the best mods for these cars are LSD, front camber plates and good tires. Once you start to mod susension you will open up a can of worms and it is not cheap to upgrade these cars if you want to do it right. Just my 2c ...

Koni Sport Yellows with BMW Performance springs make a great combo along with M3 anti roll bars.

Other options under $3K include AST, Koni based coilover from TCKR or Ohlins R&T.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Owned the car for about 2 weeks and already been to the track 3 times. Got a square set of 18x8.5 Beyern spartan wheels and Michelin super sports 255/35/18 for the track and I'm really happy with those. Brakes are also an obvious upgrade need to help reduce fade. Gonna start with fluid and lines until these pads and rotors are gone.

Motul, Castrol and Stoptech all offer high temp brake fluid. Stoptech also offers Stainless Steel lines for the 335i.

For a track car? Yes. If you want a high performance tire, buy a High Performance tire.

He doesn't have a track car - it is a dual purpose car. Not everyone needs to jump to an R compound tire right away. Especially for a car with stock suspension and no brake mods. Not only will R comps mask your mistakes if you are a beginner, they are less forgiving, and will work the suspension and brakes a lot harder than street tires.

start out on street tires and learn to be fast with less grip. Then when you've maxed out your skills on street tires, you make the move to R comps. and I don't know where you get your information, but PSS are far from junk. They are an excellent dual-purpose performance tire, easily one of the best street tires you can buy.

Who said anything about R compounds? You're right though "Garbage" is a harsh word, Dunlop ZII, or BFG ZE-11s are better choices for more track oriented street tires.

I'm eager to hear what you end going with and what works. I am in the same position as you, new 335is that will serve as my dd and occasional track car.
