Suspension options for Street / Track 335is
I have a 335is that is part daily driver, part weekend track toy. 2-3 track outings a month. I have a lot of experience on the track, but lets just say I've been spoiled when it comes to cars. What is a good "value" in the world of suspension upgrades for my vehicle? I don't care about height or look. It doesn't have to be adjustable. I only want a good blend of track performance and every day use at a reasonable price.
I have been told Koni Yellows (or Billsteins) and Eibach springs with anti-roll bars are a good option? What about the Eibach Pro Street S coilovers, which are about the same price as the above mentioned configuration? Any help is appreciated. |

A quality set of struts/shocks and springs is a good option if you don't want to go with coilovers. Koni Yellows may be a good option because you can at least adjust the rebound.
You can also upgrade to all of the M3 suspension bits (control arms, tension rods, upper links, etc...), sway bars, subframe bushings, and an LSD. It all depends on how much you want to spend and what you're really looking to get out of the car. |

I'm not inclined to spend $3000 on coilovers......yet. So am I better off going with a set of Koni's and springs or a set of "less expensive" coilovers like the Eibach pro street s?

For dampers, Koni Yellows/Sports + your choice of springs are a good value and will provide reliable performance on-track. For a complete Koni kit, look to Ground Control or TC Kline.

I would start with good tires, camber plates and then take the car to track if you haven't already. Get to know the vehicle on street and track before you mod suspension. One of the best mods for these cars are LSD, front camber plates and good tires. Once you start to mod susension you will open up a can of worms and it is not cheap to upgrade these cars if you want to do it right. Just my 2c ...

Other options under $3K include AST, Koni based coilover from TCKR or Ohlins R&T. |

Thanks for all the suggestions. Owned the car for about 2 weeks and already been to the track 3 times. Got a square set of 18x8.5 Beyern spartan wheels and Michelin super sports 255/35/18 for the track and I'm really happy with those. Brakes are also an obvious upgrade need to help reduce fade. Gonna start with fluid and lines until these pads and rotors are gone.

The best rated, most popular, high performance tires on the Forum are garbage?
Hmm......

He doesn't have a track car - it is a dual purpose car. Not everyone needs to jump to an R compound tire right away. Especially for a car with stock suspension and no brake mods. Not only will R comps mask your mistakes if you are a beginner, they are less forgiving, and will work the suspension and brakes a lot harder than street tires.
start out on street tires and learn to be fast with less grip. Then when you've maxed out your skills on street tires, you make the move to R comps. and I don't know where you get your information, but PSS are far from junk. They are an excellent dual-purpose performance tire, easily one of the best street tires you can buy. |

Who said anything about R compounds? You're right though "Garbage" is a harsh word, Dunlop ZII, or BFG ZE-11s are better choices for more track oriented street tires.
