Hydrolock!

Luckily it wasn't my car, but my friend has a 2004 m3 and his car locked up due to driving over a big puddle. Does anyone know any good shops that would be able to help him out? Also, worst case scenario how bad would the damage be?

Start lookin for a used motor now. Hydrolock usually does a lot of damage. Once they get it started, if its knocking or running rough, time to call insurance.

Does insurance usually cover this as an "act of God"?

Sometimes. Keep all of your documentation. I assume this was from the storm we all got hit with?

The price will be up there so I would call insurance right away anyways.

They should cover it plus many cars were messed up from this storm. Im sure they getting many calls now.

He says he doesn't want to do it through insurance because he heard that insurance companies could change his title from clean to flood damaged. Anyone know if this is this true?

If they total it, the insurance company will take it and give it a salvage title. A new motor is 10K plus so he should call his insurance before it is to late,.
