320d power kit

Apologies in advance if there is an existing thread on this. Hard to search on smartphone.

Wondering if anyone has looked at AU availability of the power upgrade for 320d? Ie, can it be ordered from factory.

If so, any insights on improved response and also on pricing?

The last I read on a google search was the homologation was taking extra time for oz. That was back in nov. I assume nothing happened in dec.

As far as I know from friends who have had power kits this is done by the dealer. You would have to ask if factory can do it. But if the dealer does it before you take delivery there isn't much inconvenience to you.

It's currently listed as an optional accessory on the dealers AU sites so I assume it's available here.

Not sure on +power/smoothness as I dont' know anyoen who has gone down this route... I have friends that have used 3rd party ones just not the factory kit

I just checked the site and it still says awaiting homologation approval. It was first listed late nov and status does not appear to have changed.

This item is currently awaiting homologation approval for sale in Australia.
For 320d. Increase in performance from 135 kW to 147 kW, increase in torque from 380 Nm to 420 Nm, new engine control unit, modified engine electronics, more powerful intercooler.

Yeah. I have the pricing of the 318d and 320i to thank for attracting my attention to the f30 and bmw brand. Otherwise I might not have done the research and noticed how much better value for money the 328i is in comparison to the outgoing 325i and 330i.

:-p

Hmmmm.... 12kw and 40Nm more will cut a WHOLE second to 100km/h? Sounds a bit too good to be true to me.

Indeed, if true, very impressive!

I'm no car expert though, so I'll wait until the more knowledgeable users chime in before getting excited

Interesting eh? Remember BMW is usually conservative on acceleration times, so it would be surprising if the stats didn't bear up. If its true, and fuel consumption is as claimed, then the next question is...price?! What I really wanted to see them bring out was the 330d, but an M Sport 320d touring with adaptive suspension and power kit might do nicely!

On that, I'm still trying to get BMW to confirm the 320d is actually coming as a Touring...

I was surprised too. When i looked further I recall seeing it was "up to" 1 second in acceleration times without specifying which performance bracket. I think the 1 sec applied to the 120d 0-60 kph times. the 0-100 rating was only 0.5 sec for the 320d

Would have to browse at home more fully to see where I got that info from.

Yeah half a second quicker would be what I expect.

Let's see if they bring out something for the 328i.

380Nm ain't enough for you??? I absolutely thought about it, but i really don't think its necessary.. unless u get 50kw or something. Btw the 335i and e92 M3 i think has only 400Nm, you really dont need more than what u have rite???

If you want to deprioritise sporty driving and handling but prioritise space... Toureg v6? (not the 150TDI) It has the zf 8 speeder too rather than the nasty Dsg
