Wheel Vibration at 60+mph
So i've been having this issue now for a little over 2 months. I have a 2007 E90 335i and i started noticing that the wheel/car would vibrate slightly on the highway above 60mph. At the time it started I needed an alignment and new tires. I ended up getting new rims (19's) previously had 162's... The outer tread wear of the 2 front tires were bald, the inside tread wear of the driver tire was even worse (i attached a picture)... I mounted the new rims on, had them aligned and balanced and the car still vibrates, only vibrates going more than 55-60mph.. doesn't vibrate when braking, Also the wheel slightly pulls to the right even after the alignment, I have no idea what could be causing this, if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated! I would rather get it fixed soon as I dont want my new tires to have uneven wear as my old ones did

I'm definitely following this thread because when I swapped my winters on, I noticed almost the same pattern on my two rear tires. I have no idea what could be causing it though.

Have a similar problem but my tires are only like 5 months old and all my rims are in perfect condition. My wheel will vibrate between 60-75mph, anything above and below that is fine. It does not pull to any side so the alignment is fine but I might have it checked out next week just to make sure.

Make sure the new rims are not bent. Also, I had the same issue when using rims that had a millimeter off on the hub size.

Even if the wheels are balanced there is a chance the wheels are damaged.
I had a damaged wheel properly balanced in my old car. get the front wheels checked by another shop...check the rotation carefully on the machine. Road force balance is recommended in this case. For car pulling on one side, switch the front tires, left-right. if pulling doesnt go away., alignment is the issue. As someone said above, look for hub/lug centric wheels issue. |

Check your alignment numbers and post it on here. It can be if your lowered and they don't tweak it right also it can a bad wheel. Usually if its at 60 mph its a bad wheel or the balancing was not done right. I went back to my shop 3-4 times because they couldn't get it done right. Finally they got it done properly and now no vibration. If its vibrating like your afraid you have a bent wheel.
Vibration: Bent wheel/ Not balanced correctly Tire wear: alignment/ Bad suspension components ( HIGHLY doubt that ) |

Also have someone check the thrust arm bushings if it hasn't been done. That can produce a shimmy in that speed range independent of tire/wheel issues.

Im going to have them check the thrush arm bushings and see, hopefully its that and not a bent rim since it was doing it with my old 162's as well.

Road-Force balance isn't always needed.. but in this case it sounds like it'll help fix your problem.
