So I need a new car LIKE NOW! =(

Well I have been shopping for a new car for the past 2 years and have been anticipating the day that I could finally save the money to purchase a 3 series coupe.

However I have just ran into a huge dilemma.

My current car just broke down today for the second time in 4 weeks. The car is 14 years old and needs to go, I do not want to put anymore money into a car thats an embarresment to drive and will continue to breakdown on me. I just don't trust it on the road.

We all know that THERE ARE NO COUPES AVAILABLE ANYWHERE, and I would have to wait until October to get one. At first I thought that was doable because I felt that my car could hold out long enough for a 2008 coupe to become available. Obviously that didn't happen/

So I thought OK, I wouldn't mind having a certified used 04-05 330ci coupe to drive around for a couple of years if I cant get an 08. Problem is they are RARE to find and the ones I have found are NOT certified. Buying a used BMW without a warranty = stupid. I've looked as far as 100 miles away from where I live. All dealerships in MD, VA and some in PA...no luck.

So now I don't know what to do and I need a car.

I started to think about a G35 sedan (will not get a 3 series sedan cause it not at all attractive to me), but I just don't flat out care for the car at all, even though I can get a supplier discount.

I dont know. I'm real sad and real disappointed. All I needed was 3 more months, but I'm 3 months too short.

There are coupes EVERYWHERE. The dealer I went to yesterday to get service must have had 10 of them out front..if your dealer wants to make a sale they will find you one

I dont know about the E. Coast but there are a lot of coupes lying around here. Perhaps you can make a deal with an out of state dealer and just have it delivered to your local dealer. And around here people are getting really good deals on them coupes too.

I think I saw one at Fairfax BMW today. Ask for James Duerbeck and tell him Andrew sent you.

That's quite weird that people claim there are coupes all over the place. At my dealership there are 58 3 Series in stock, 1 is a 335 coupe, 2 are 328 coupes, and the last is a 328 cic. So that's 4 coupes, and 54 sedans.

do what I did: rented a ghetto car car from enterprise while I waited for my coupe. It does not save you any money because the cost of a monthly rental is insane. If you can find a dealer who will sell it for MSRP, it would be in your best interest to buy it than pay for the rental each month.

Just an option. Good luck BTW, the coupe is HOT and drives beautifully. Don't get a G if you can help it.

BMW of Arlington has a white 335i coupe (coral red interior) listed on their site in current inventory.
Fairfax is currently listing a 328i coupe in Black Sapphire and a 328xi coupe in Bronze.
VOB lists a Jet Black 328i coupe and a Bronze 335i coupe.
Sterling has a 328i coupe in White.
Russell lists 328i coupes in Jet Black and White.

All of those listings come from the dealer websites and may not be completely accurate, but then again they may be. Point is there ARE coupes to be had, especially if you're looking specifically for a 328i. If you choose to contact Arlington ask for Rodney Barredo....he's been great to us so far.

I was in the same situation. I had planned on doing an ED for an e92. Then suddenly my car broke down and needed a car to get to work every day. I decided not to do ED and just ordered one to my specs...saving me a little time. In the meantime, I borrowed an uncle's car for a few weeks. He then sold it, so again I was left without a car. Then a buddy of mine had a coworker who had an old beat up jetta that he didn't use. So I offered to rent it from him for like $400 for a month and a half. That beats the $1200+ that I would've had to spend at a rental car company, however I've been having to suffer with no air conditioning! The new car should be arriving this week. What a relief!

If you look around hard enough, I'm sure you can find a coupe. I've seen them on dealer lots too (mostly 328's around here). Otherwise, just order one and somehow/some way find a temporary beater car to drive around.

If you're going to lease anyway and are willing to sacrifice in colors and some options, you might want to just assume someone's lease. leasetrade.com , swapalease.com and leasetrader.com are some places to start.

Coupes are around. Manual coupes are harder to get.

Thats the biggest problem. I am looking for a manual. I test drove the automatic and just felt really disconnected from the car since I have been driving a manual for such a long time.

The other issue is that a lot of the 328i coupes that are available are $$$ to the point that they are well into the range of 335i coupes. Thats why they haven't been sold, or thats what the reps have said. Not to mention that 99%of the dealerships don't update their online inventory....I've called many dealerships who I thought had one sitting in their lot from checking out their inventory only to find out that the car had been sold weeks ago :

Infiniti and Mercedes have said that they would give me a free rental for a few weeks until a car that I like is available. Very cool on their part, but I don't know if I want to go that route yet.

I'll also be buying.
