HPDE newbie questions!

OK, I’m now a member of Nasa, have a set of K1’s in the garage, and a set of Kumho MX’s on the way. I have a few questions for the track experts here;

Anyone here know what the helmet requirements are for NASA HPDE events? Is it strictly sa2000 or will m2000 work?

What would the recommended fuel level be to start the event? ½ tank, full tank?

Are gloves required? Are they a good idea?

Anyone planning on going to the Infineon event on 9/22?

Thanks---

Well, since I instruct for NASA..and they are pissed that I dont show up to enough events..I guess I can comment. You can use a SA2000 or SA2005 helmet...just use a full tank..too frickin hard to get gas multiple times during an event...gloves are not required..but if you are someone that sweats alot..then get them..(or if you are at an event that will be high in temp). Sorry..not going to Sears Point on 9/22...is that the BMW event?

I am going to Sears on Oct 6-7th with the Audi club..come by (pay the $44 club fee) and I can take you out with me for a session or two. Have to join to be covered by the blanket insurance policy.

I have been burning through an entire tank of fuel during two-day track weekends. I start the day full and drive back to the hotel on 1/2. I always start in the morning full fuel--purchased off track at nice cheap rural prices compared to what I pay at home

If you drive harder..it usually ends up being a 1/4 tank with each session...of course..this all depends on the length of the track sessions..and how open the track is to really get on it. With the BMW...I do a little better gas mileage than I did with my chipped Audis. I was averaging 7.9 mpg with the Audi at the track...
