excessive brake dust?

it seems the day after I clean them they are covered again. Anyone else having problems with the brake dust and any recommendations? I know they make a wheel wax that is supposed to repel it.

The first 1200 miles (2000 kms) is always the worst period for brake dust.
Hopefully, your brake dust problem will subside with time.

Washed my car today. Drove 3 miles. Front wheels are already covered in break dust. Oh well.

So so true.

2004 E46.....tons of front brake dust

2007 E90.....tons of front brake dust

2010 E90.....tons of front brake dust

2013 F30? Just ordered. Sure wondering how brake dust will be.

You get used to using a dedicated bucket of water and soap to clean the wheels....as well as a dedicated wheel sponge.

One of the reasons I liked gunmetal rims - you cared less because it didn't make much of a difference

Yes ... tons of brake dust. Only driven about 80 miles with no rain and wheels are filthy. The two tone 19' s do a decent job hiding some of it.

Zero brake dust on F30. My E90 had ton of brake dust even after a few days. Is it M-Sport issue?

Have a no-line model, very little brake dust compared with my E46 and E53 cars. I understand BMW might have switched to ceramics for the F30, not sure about the msport models. I guess it might be a compromise between brake dust and brake performance.

My 335i Msport has a LOT of brake dust, just as bad as my 135i.

I think the Msports get the "dusty" traditional brake pads.

My 2012 F30 328i generates minimal break dust. I got a bit of dust on the wheels for the first 2000 miles, but since then, almost nothing.

My previous 2 BMW's (E30 and E36) generated a ton of dust that accumulated on the wheels.

I had a 2004 545i with a massive brake dust issue. So far, I've had my 335xi for just about a month and 1K miles and absolutley none!! I keep checking every other day or so and still clean as a whistle. Shh, let's not tempt the Bimmer gods!

Dust is bad.

I found cleaning the wheels and then sealing with an wheel sealer from meguiars kept them cleaner longer.

Its the euro spec pads. I understand that you can always go to a US spec lower dust break pad at the expense of performance.

bmw reformulated the pads around 2009, alot less dust. my 2010 E90 has almost no dust.

for the F30 it looks like all lines but the M sport have the same low dust formulation. the M Sport line gets the dustier, better biting, euro formulation.

I'm getting an average amount of dust on mine. Keep meaning to give the wheels the Swissvax treatment to make cleaning a bit easier.
