Sportline interior trim

Has anybody tried painting that gorgeous red stripe themselves? I am tempted to try it but have no clue how it would turn out. Anybody with experience doing something similar to this please chime in. I was thinking just masking it off (the pieces are rather flat) and hitting it with a matte red paint.

Plasti-Dip it. That way if they don't come out right you can peel it off.

I got gloss black from the factory on mine
