Long-Drive Seat Comfort
So,
I did , but nothing particularly useful turned up (comments from 2005). What's the seat comfort like on a long drive in the E9x? I never really noticed until I moved to the US, where you drive a lot longer between places For example, the 5 hour drive from Seattle to Whistler (incl. a long wait at the border) in my X5 w/ Sport seats didn't hurt a bit. A 90 minute drive in the 2007 Acura MDX I had for a while left me with back and neck ache, and a need to stop. It's mostly short, fun, driving - but I do have occasional long runs. The 150 mile trip to the dealer to pick my new car up in September, for example -Alistair |

The Sport seats were plenty comfortable to me. I drove all over Europe and had a few 4+ hour drives.

+1 With the sport seats, I have no problem with long drives. I like the lumbar support. For comparison, our Odyssey Touring has great, comfortable soft leather captain chairs made for long driving. They are nice enough but I can't get the lumbar support to feel as comfortable in the Ody as in the Bimmer.

Seat Position
I set memory 2 seat positions, one for city and one for long highway cruises. In the city I have the seat more forward with front of the seat elevated slightly. This gives a more secure feel (I have a manual)
On the highway I position the seat back (w/ more recline) and front down. Everyone is different so take some time to find a comfortable position.. |

On a 5 hour drive from Munich to Prague I had no problem with the sport seats on my e90. Granted I pulled over a few times (for gas/snakcs) and stretched out a little, I never felt uncomfortable while driving... I had the lumbar support maxxed out.

I think the sport seats are MUCH better than the non-sport models. I recently drove from Houston, Texas to Destin, Florida (about a 9 hour drive, 500 miles) and was very thankful I had the sport seats with all the multiple-adjustment ability.

No problems, 9-hrs from SFO to LAS RT.
Also did many 3-4 hr drives/day by myself during my ED.

Seats are fine for 3-4 hour drives, but I wish they had more lumbar support for longer trips. I have the sport package but not the premium package (that lists including adjustable lumbar support). Best seats I've experienced were in my NSX, totally unadjustable but I could drive 12 hrs without any soreness whatsoever in that car.

I drove my 335 for 1300 miles over two days when I bought it (Chicago to Orlando). Sport seats.
Very comfortable. No back pain, no aches. Very good. As good as my Mercedes E, although the massage feature of the E is nice |

All good to hear!
I'd have paid for the "massage seat" option though, if there was one! |

Getting a CG-Lock helps, too. I have the sport/premium seats, and they're even better when you can snug up the belt a bit to keep from slowly slouching down the seats on long trips.

The sport seats are really comfortable. Went on a road trip and the sport seat was great.

have normal seats on my e90 and they are quite comfortable. i usually have to drive about 7 hours to see my girlfriend in providence almost every month. i havent driven for more than 10 hours straight so i wont know if they become uncomfortable after that... but so far not back or neck pains to complain about.

it's not the seat in my opinion .. it's the car , i felt like the car is small after all the excitement about the twin turbo is over after 5000 miles i have 18000now.

I have both an E90 and an E92. The E90 doesn't have the Sport Package, whereas the E92 does. Everyone in our family has back problems, and for some reason the Sport Package seat tends to hurt when driving for long hours, while the non-sport E90 feels much more comfortable. I've tried playing with the lumbar support and everything, but no position seems to be good.
The E92 definitely holds me in nicer, but the E90 is better for cruising for hours on end, but that's just how I feel. I know others on here disagree.

Well 8 hours out in the twisties banging around and having fun led to no complaints, from me or my co-pilot.

I drove, nearly nonstop, from Salzburg to Florence. About 7 hours, mostly highway driving.
I got out at the hotel ready to drive another 3 hours. How's that for non-fatiguing, comfortable seats? In comparison, I'm able to drive about 40 minutes in my Nissan before I need a nap. |

+1 On the sport seats--they are awesome. Best seats I've had in a car, as far as comfort and support go.
