Paint match: would you find this acceptable?
*Vendor contacted. Thanks for all the feedback. Seems to be a well regarded vendor so I'm hoping they will help me work this out.
I bought an aero lip and painted grilles from a vendor on here a few weeks ago and finally had the chance to try them on. The fitment is good but I'm quite disappointed by the paint match. The white is a much brighter white on the parts. I'm not expecting a perfect match but this is just a little too off for me. Am I being unreasonable here? Here's some pics. The contrast is much more pronounced in person. I haven't contacted the seller yet cause I wanted to get a consensus first. Last edited by HMG_E93; 09-21-2012 at 11:12 AM.. |

You're not being unreasonable, that's pretty noticeable, especially the grilles.

Whenever you order prepainted parts, especially for AW, the match won't ever be spot on. Your particular situation is fairly noticable so I would attempt to correct it. My spoiler is a little bit off, but only I would notice it in direct sunlight so I'm ok.

That is defiantly worth a compliant. I would be very disappointed and probably take it off to get repainted. I honestly think they used the wrong paint color completely. Good luck

from what i hear alpine white is VERY hard to match so its almost never perfect. Ive never seen a white BMW that looks the same as another white BMW lol, not sure of the reason

Too obvious. Alpine White is hard to match. It will always be off a little bit.

In the first pic I don't see much of a difference due to the angle/lighting but in every other pic there is a huge difference. It actually looks like the grill is meant to be a different color...

Yeah. I would complain. That's the problem with parts that are painted from the vendor. While I'm sure they do a good job with the application, it will never be spot on. When you go to a body shop they mix a small amount of paint and then test it. All cars fade and oxidize differently. Unless the car is there when they mix the paint, it won't be perfect.
