Dime size Star shaped Windshield Crack

The previous owner said it has been there for awhile. It has not grown or anything since I've had it for the last 5 months.

Is there a way to put something on it to prevent it from cracking further? or leave it alone? or have a professional repair it?

many insurance companies will pay for the repair...no out of pocket to you. I would definitely have it repaired regardless... It's not very expensive to have a professional repair it.

Usually a glass shop like safelite can inject an epoxy into the crack. It should prevent it from spreading and make it somewhat invisible.

Safelite does a good job, and they guarantee that if the same spot opens up again they replace your windshield for free. They're more expensive than others and are still only about $60.
