Make Money with DIY Videos?
I know there is a pretty solid DIY section here but most of them aren't videos which are so much easier to comprehend when trying to tackle a diy job for a first time.
Some of us XI guys have tossed in some money to a shop to look into upgrading the transfer case so that got me thinking. What if people on here could "donate" money (Say $5) towards a diy fund for quality DIY videos. Then a list of diy jobs that are wanted in video form can be made and a value applied to each. For example: 1.) Turbo Swap = $150 2.) Valve Cleaning = $75 3.) Differential Replacement = $50 And so on.. I know most people wouldn't mind making a video but sometimes you just want to get the job done without spending an extra 20% of time to make a video and if they do, it's sometimes just small snapshots. This way, a certain standard is to be expected from the DIY video if you're to be paid for it. Perhaps financial compensation is what is needed. With as many people on this forum, even if only a small percentage toss in a few bucks, we could have some great DIY videos for the n54. |

IIRC you can make money off Youtube by 'monetizing' your vids. Basically you post a vid, then advertisers attach their ad, the more views you get, the more money you make. I don't know any detail about it, though.

I think you can make money but you know how people are, most want immediate gratification and not have a few bucks rolling in each month from YouTube.

unless you're hitting millions of views which you definitely wouldn't with DIY n54 stuff, the monetization is pretty worthless. I have a video with 33,000 views and i think i made like $3

One issue was I had it listed as tranny change at first and all the related topics were pretty awesome if I must say so. I learned my lesson after that to name everything transmission. |

Bet you get more $$ if you named every video 'Two girls and......'

i think detailed pics are more helpful than videos, but it's a super bitch to take pics. i've tried to take pics of when i do any DIY and end up getting super dirty and showered by carcinogenic fluids. i can't imagine how one would take pictures, especially with nice camera without extra hands.
