Tint or not to tint?
So I just got an e92 335 Lci, I really don't know if I should tint it or not tho!! The only thing I'm worried about is cops and not seeing out my windows at night!! So please share some advice my fellow bmw brothers lol how often do you guys get pulled over for it?

yeah i was worried about this a long time ago before tinting back in 06. you'll be able to see out the window so no worries. you get used to the slight darkness but its really not that bad. as for the cops, i'm not really sure. i've been pulled over just for tint in california, but so far in NJ i haven't been pulled over yet (30% all around)... and Newark is cop-infested, probably for the best tho haha.

Well, first addressing the cops issue... 35% tint on your front windows is legal in all states (as far as i know), some states allow 30% but depending on where you're driving (like what neighborhoods you associate with) you can get away with darker tint as long as the cop can see you through it. As for the back windows, you can go full limo tint and be okay.
As far as seeing... only at night while you're backing up it can be a problem, but i might suggest getting some higher lumen output reverse lights to make up the difference or an HID system back there. You shouldn't be putting tint on your windshield either way but if you do, i would say no darker than 35%... but if you get in an accident at night and the investigator notices you have tint on your windshield you are automatically at fault. |

15% Tint all round on a Jet Black for over a year, number of stops for it 0. Number of stops for speeding to many to count . BTW this is in florida where its allowed to be 20% all around legally.

Check your state laws to find out what tint is legal. I wouldn't make any blanket statements as to what is legal. In VA it's 50% on front windows and 35% in the back.
If you aren't legal your running the risk of wasting the money you spent. |

Do it. It just adds that extra touch to the car.

What is a ballpark cost to tint just your windows? Say no more than 35%?
How long does it take to tint windows? How long does tints last before I worry about peeling? The tinting would be used to keep the sun rays out.

It only takes a few hours but you can't roll the windows down for several days (just to be safe I waited a week). They also advise you for about 2 weeks to park it in as much sun as you can to help the adhesive dry. I have a MB ML320 that was done by Earmark in 2001. To this day no bubbling, discoloration, or peeling and it sits outside quite a bit (and that was a metallic film, all films these days are ceramic). Hope that helps. |

Gotta go tint! Best decision for an aggressive looking car I have ever made. I know in NJ, you're not allowed to tint your front windows at all but I just tinted them a little bit lighter and have never had a problem with it even when I was pulled over for something else. Go with it you'll love it!

Front window tint below 4" from the top is illegal in MI.
I would go with a lighter tint on the fronts (50%) and then go darker as you go around.
