Smart to buy?? 335i 51k miles

Im trying to get into a 335i coupe. I'm looking mainly at 07-08s. Is it a smart idea to buy an 07 with around 51k miles?

NEED ADVICE!

depends on if warranty is important to you or not. Not very high mileage for an 07, but why "invest" in pre-LCI if you already have one?

Only if it is a CPO. If it doesn't have an extended warrantly then you might get hit with any one of the 335i's issues.

HPFP issue - The High Pressure Fuel Pump is known to fail and is covered under extended warranty and BMW instituted a 10-year, 120,000-mile (190,000 km) warranty on the HPFP for the 2007 - 2010 model year vehicles with the N54 engine.

Turbo issue - The turbos have been known to fail over time and you are looking at a $6500 repair to replace the turbos.

Go CPO and you have a better shot of not having to deal with these issues at least until your CPO warranty runs out. By that time you can trade it in for something else. The 328i is much more reliable but nowhere near as fast(trust me I know, I have a 328i).

As long as you have the money for any repairs that may arise.

Because like most people you miss read my thing. Its says "E90 328i to E92 335i soon." So I'm looking and want to buy one. I think I should change that to stop confusing people.

I have one too and it is so slow compared to the 335i(s) that I have test driven in the past month. I do believe though that BMW recently put out a 8-year, 82,000-mile warranty for the turbos?? So with both issues covered under the BMW warranties I should be good.... right?

I got the 328 to 335, not the E90 to E92. Sorry abt that. The warranty argument still stands.

I agree. The warranty doesnt seem to be a big issue since BMW put out warranties for HPFP and the turbos. Right now my car is out of warranty.

From my Warranty Vehicle Inquiry document on my 2010 CPO:
"BMW NA has extended the turbocharger's emissions warranty up to a total of 8 years of 82,000 miles, whichever comes first and starting from an eligible vehicle's original in-service date, for a failure of a turbocharger caused by a defect of the turbocharger's wastegate. Please see Service Information bulletin B01 02 12 for more information." (emphasis and any typos mine)
My interpretation is that a turbo failure for any reason other than the wastegate would not be covered by this.

I'm in a similar boat here. Looking at a 2011 335i CPO but with 43k miles on it but good price.

As per your initial question, I guess it really comes down to price. Do you have a price range in mind? Also obviously compare current prices against KBB values. Great tool for buyers.
