Just wash it with normal water, then rinse it with filtered water from a jug. The mouth of the jug has to be big enough so the water just sheets off your car. Like the sort of jug you make juice in, ya know? You should be scrubbin on your car when its hot though. Forget about about water spots; swirls are what you should worry about.

Wash the car anytime bozo. I typically was my car during the day and I am not always in constant shade. The trick is to just keep the car constantly wet until it's time to dry. The fastest method is the water sheeting method, then use your leaf blower to get excess water out of the tough areas then use a nice waffle weave MF towl. You should have no water spots if you are quick enough. If you have any just wipe the car down real quick with a good QD like Poorboys Spray and Wipe or put a top coat of wax which will also remove your water spots.

This isn't exactly rocket science.

Here's one for ya......go buy yourself the Mr Clean Car Wash Kit.

When you are done washing the car (Zaino Car Wash Recommended) connect the Mr Clean Sprayer and turn the knob on the sprayer to the filtered water position. Then you can spray down the whole car and just let dry or take your time with a soft towel and No water spots. It costs like 25 bucks at Walmart.

Later.

Poorboys S&W or they have other products like Spray & Gloss, same as the S&W it just leaves a more glossy show car finish or QW+ which is the S&W but with some wax to help the poorboys wax, if you already use it, last a little bit longer between waxes.

i live in northern jersey as well and i find time to wash my car on weekends around 5ish, and its not that "hot" its sunny yes but not hot enough that you can't wash your car. And besides washing is like 20-30min job after washing pull in the garage.

Optimum No-Rinse is a true car wash and not a in-between type product. Many pros and enthusuast with critical eyes use it without any issues.

Really? No matter how dirty the car is? Good to know for future reference if it is that good.

My house faces west, so I have morning shade in the driveway, but it is lost quickly in the summer. I also get shade in the evening from the houses across the street. You just have to grab those windows of opportunity!

Water spots are not a problem if you dry the car with mf towels and do so in shade.

Yep. It's well documented on the Autopia.org forums. If those guys are willing to use it, it's good enough for me. I'm sure if you have caked on dirt from 4x4-ing you'll want to rinse things off first though.

+1 on the Optimum No-Rinse (ONR). Started using it last winter when it was too cold out to wash outside. Now I use it all the time to wash in my garage and stay out of the sun. As mentioned above research it at autopia.org. The detail experts (Scottwax, Picus and others) all use ONR!

Yep. I use it all winter, road salt, dirt, mud - there is an extra amount of care required, but that's true of almost any properly done detail process.

You have similar winters to me and ONR is what gets me through the winter. It's great stuff. I'm hoping to use some Poorboy's S&W for the light washes this winter.

For some shade, buy one of those cheap "easy-up" canopies at a local sporting goods store. Set it up over the car, run some water over all the surfaces to cool it down some, then begin washing. That is what I do if I don't have time later in the evening to wash.

My house faces east, so around 6 PM my drive-way is in full shade. But I've used the easy-up a few times when I needed to wash the car in the morning. Can't show up to a mid-day meet-n-greet with a dirty car!

A lot of people use it with great results. You just have to be careful when the car is very dirty.
