Relaxing 2 oil lines $1,800?????

I had my 335i go in the BMW dealership to get my water pump replaced and one of the techs said they found that the oil line going to the turbos were leaking oil and it would cost $1,800 to replace.. They said its a 12 labor job + the oil lines

Is this correct??????

Now I just can't get the image out of my head of a technician talking calmly to the oil lines: "you're on a beach, it's warm and sunny, drinking a tall glass of 10w-40, life is good."

I imagined tech massaging the lines.

If they have to pull the front turbo to get to both sides of the oil line (I think they do), then yes, that's about the right amount of time to R&R both turbos - book time at least. Then all new gaskets, o-rings, and other seals for the turbos, water pipes, oil pipes, etc.

Go in complaining of waste gate rattle and they will replace the turbos under the lawsuit that extends the waste gate warranty. I'm getting my smokey turbos replaced Monday, free of charge on my '07. You have

Maybe it's related to the previous repair. Ask them to look into it, always worth a shot!

Ridiculous if they don't work with you. It's not covered under CPO? Are you modded? I'd see what you can bargain. Pull the history report to check if there were any repairs that could have affected this. If all fails call bmwna. Best of luck OP.

Cpo coveres engine turbos tranny and most major mechanical parts but not lines or gaskets.
And since they replaced the turbos not too long ago, they should definetly pay for the repair

Funny thing is I just asked my service advisor and said if I do get both my oil lines replaced for $1800 and it leaks again is there any type of warranty?? He replies if the lines leak again then BMW will cover it under the unlimited warranty.... I got my turbos replaced at around 47,xxx (3/8/11) miles so would they have changed or messed with the oil lines then??? If they indeed messed with the oil lines then this should indeed be covered under the BMW unlimited warranty my service advisor told me

I think there just trying to make a quick $1800 off me

I wonder whether they replaced all the o-rings on the coolant and oil pipes when they did your turbos. There are four coolant and four oil lines, each with an o-ring at both ends. Hard to say without seeing the turbos, but I'd think your leak is a bad o-ring and not a bad line. The oil feed lines are only under 70psi or so max.

Bullshit... Should be covered under extended warranty. Are you even eating an oil? If so how much? They could be playing you i would get a second opinion

Replacing oil lines are the equivalent of doing a turbo swap. The manis need to come off as only the lower feed of the rear turbo is accessible without dropping the subframe.

You will also need an oil change while those lines are replaced.
