As the title states one of my parkers is out on my tailight.

I unplug the wiring tonight and re-plugged it in again and low and behold it started to illuminate, but on closer inspection it was only the lower two of the three led strips, the top strip flickered for a while then turned off:



So what gives guys, can this be repaired or do i have to replace the whole housing? (no faults pop up on the idrive system?)

Replace the light bulb first.

Ahh jeez.... a noob error huh

Well I only bought the car last week, all the jdm cars i have had the bulb is clearly visible, and simply unscrew and replace.

I couldn't see a bulb as such, and when I looked at the manual the reference for that part of the led tailight said to refer to local bmw dealer (other parts like indicator reverse etc stated change globe?)

I remember someone from the SD chat having the same issue...the dealer said they need to replace the whole out taillight assy. Check the SD chat

you need to replace the broken side with new one cuz its LED.

Thanks for your replies guys, it basically confirmed what I thought (you cant replace a globe)

I have the 'premium selection' warranty still remaining (basically its bmw used car warranty)

I shall check the terms and conditions and see if it covers it, and make some enquiries but there are a few on ebay for around $100 ish...

Update: So I wacked in a cheap replacement taillamp and voila it works fine now.

Upon starting the car up this morning I was hit with multiple errors (rear taillamp reverse error, rear indicator error, rear dual stage braking lamp error etc)

The indicator etc still works, so what gives? I tried searching but couldn't dig any info out?

You can fix it, have to take the "taillight" apart and fix a resistor, its burnt out inside, very easy fix if you have even novice soldering skills (15$ solder gun and 5$ in solder at radio shack) or buy one, i can sell you that one if you want. I have a tinted set from my 2007 335i, and the other side is out. let me know\

And you can have my whole set 125$ + shipping. (the left one is burnt out like your right one, could take the two broken ones apart fix them and sell for 250$ for the set on ebay)
