Vrsf Downpipes and intercooler review

I have been tune and intake for awhile running 75% E85. I have been looking for a good deal for intercooler and downpipes and when Tiago released his 7" intercooler i was sold. I ordered the parts and they were at my door this thursday. My friend and i installed them yesterday.

Installation.

The installation for the intercooler was quite easy. We removed the bumper and undertray (we knew we had to remove it in the future for the downpipes so why not) then removed the old intercooler and its old piping. Tip for you out there who are looking to remove those pesky 1 time use clamps put a screw driver right on the joint between the clamp and pipe and twist. The clamp should pop right off. Any way after figuring out how to get those off trimming was done with a standard hand saw the intercooler was installed and it was on to the downpipes. This install was very easy taking about 45 minutes. The only problem we ran into with the intercooler install was the inlet and outlet on the intercooler are a bit short and i felt like to get a full seal they should be made about a 1/2" to 1/4" longer however i have not had any leaks after multiple long full throttle runs.

The downpipes coming out wasnt too hard and putting them back in wasnt bad either. If i had to give advice to someone who was going to do the install themselves i wouldnt say it was hard all it really is is a few bolts and some O2 sensors. The only problem with the install is that there is barely any room to work with there so you are always having to find ways to get to bolts. Other than limited space the install went fantastic. The old came out with ease and the new Vrsf downpipes went in just as well. There was one small problem with one of the downpipes being a tad too long and we had to actually force the stock exhaust to meet up with the downpipes with a jack. The downpipe install took us a fairly long time due to the cramped space. We started around 8 pm and finished around 3am this was mostly due to a few breaks and a lost steering rack nut.

First impressions

Before I give power impressions of these 2 i would like to say that i dont have 1/4 mile results or 60-130 times or anything like that but those will be coming soon. Like i mentioned before my car is JB4 map 5 and DCI running 75% E85 and now downpipes and intercooler. Before the car would get going and it would just kind of die off up top. Now with the intercooler and downpipes the car has gained hp and tq all through the power band. Once the turbos spool which is instant in these cars you get amazing torque and that torque just stays with you till redline. The intercooler also is very impressive. Usually if i did 0-limit runs my car would need to sit to get back down to proper operating oil temps. With this intercooler my temps get up to operating temps and never really go up from there. I did 5 back to back 0-155mph runs last night and my temps barely ever raised.

Overall these mods in my book were completely worth it. They make the car a beast. For a street car with less than a total of 2k worth of mods in it it is truly a powerful machine.

Also i would like to make a real quick review of motul 300v 5w-40.

i have always run 0w-40 Mobil 1. Car has always felt normal nothing out of the ordinary. I was doing some research a few weeks ago and ive always known that motul is a top of the line oil but i never really thought about running it in our cars til i saw that evolution racewerks 135i time attack car runs it. Well i was sold i bought the oil and changed it about a week ago. The car just does everything better now. I has changed the way the car runs its smoother and even more reactive to throttle inputs and gear changes better. Motul has really smoothed out this car and its what im going to run in my n54 for now on.

Two Questions:

How much was the entire package?
Any issues with running 75% E85?

i paid the price listed on the vrsf website with a bit back for the intercooler group buy.

i have no issue running 75% in fact im only running 75% because i had to fill up one night out of town and i was not near an e85 pump or else i would be running 100% and i have been doing that for over 2-3 months now. The only problem i ever had was fixed once i started messing around with the open fuel loop mapping in the jb4 software.

Which specific motul 300v 5w-40 did you choose? I see they have a racing/competition version.

That 300v might be a little much for a DD, the 8100 X-cess 5W40 would be better for the average person.

I hope those downpipes aren't too raspy with the stock exhaust. I'm sure any catless dp will add a little rasp though...

Installed both as well. Finally drove it for a bit, once my Procede kicked in a lot of the raspy-ness went away. I noticed a huge difference in throttle response, power all the way to redline. It just plain feels stronger everywhere. The exhaust is obviously louder but not annoying and I love the extra turbo swoosh

Yes the motul 300v is expensive and may be more than needed but you cant have too good of oil

Man 75% is INCREDIBLE!!! Your car must really like it... I have experiemented with a variety of mixtures but the car throws fuel codes which i tried correcting with the fuel open loop mapping settings and I'm running about a 30% mixture with everything in check. Just curious for stock turbo cars which I have a friend that I do most of his tunng for, what fuel open loop map setting are you running? futureuserA=2 and ? Also, did you change any of your AFR or CPS numbers at all? Currently he is just running the default 1m settings..and I'm really trying to get his car dialed in because he doesnt know that much but he wants to push stock turbos to the limit so he has an excuse to get some RB's cause everytime even with him on meth 70/30, I still drag his ass!!! hahaahaah
