BrenTuning Pro-tune review (Cobb Accessport)

I've been using a Cobb Accessport for about 3 months now and have been pretty happy with the results.

As time has gone on, I've wanted to add power here and there. It got to the point where I had all the basic bolt-ons, so I decided it would be a good time to invest in a proper tune for my car and it's parts.

Mod list:
aFe Elite Intake
Activewerks FMIC
ar Designs cat-less x-drive downpipes
ETS Exhaust
ar charge pipe
TiAL BoV

Running the Cobb AP Stage 2+FMIC Aggressive tune the car made 350awhp and 370awtq. Not bad.

Brendan spent some time creating a custom map for me on the 4 wheel drive dyno and here are the results:

404awhp / 433awtq.

The car certainly has some go to it now.

If you're in the north east, you should certainly check him out.

Very impressive numbers for an X-Drive car, congrats & enjoy your ProTune. I've heard very good things about Bren Tuning so a great alternative for people who want a ProTune done locally & live in that area

Baseline/Delta or the numbers mean nothing. Pump Gas? E85?

Yea, a baseline would be great, but this post really illustrates the gains of a ProTune over the OTS Map. Stage 2+ FMIC Aggressive 350awhp and 370awtq to 404awhp / 433awtq is incredible. A 54 WHP/63 WTQ delta with just changes made to the tune is legit any way you look at it

I agree, I just know Stg2+ is fairly conservative to start with (Hence the gains with the pro-tune if on the same gas)

So are the baselines from the same dyno or not. I'm confused? If not then how can we discern anything?

I mean, all the OTS Maps are conservative, but it's not like he was comparing the Sport Map to a ProTune. Ironically enough, the Stage 2+FMIC Aggressive Map usually runs slightly higher boost (.5-1 psi) than most ProTune's. It's the timing adjustments that really create the performance gains.

As for the dyno question & if there's a stock baseline w/ the mods, infiniteecho will have to chime in. When I go to get dyno'd (tentatively planned for the end of the month), I'll make sure to get Stock Baseline and, if possible, some OTS numbers to compare against the ProTune I'm running.

Baseline is from the same dyno on the same day.

Pulled the car in and ran the OTS map, he worked his magic and that was one of the last runs of the day pictures above.

All figures are on 93 octane pump gas, same tank of gasoline as well.

In that case, those are are some numbers for an XI.

This is the 3rd Bren tuned car I've seen numbers for and they always have awesome deltas.

Looks like a Dyno Dynamics. Pay attention to the deltas not the absolute numbers.

There were graphs of the base run. I just forgot to get them. I'll ask him for them when he's back on Tuesday.

The dyno isn't optimistic. Stock RWD 335 cars put down 260-270 rwhp.

Ok, looking forward to it. Sorry to bust your chops but those are amazing numbers for just pump gas. Is that just 93 octane?

Can you post a datalog from your car?

No worries. Yes, just 93 octane. Nothing else.

He's done quite a bit higher on E-85 (510wtq if memory severs me correctly).

I'll ask him if he's okay with me posting a data log. I don't want to give away information that he makes his living off, if that makes sense.

Have you logged yourself to look at timing corrections? Is everything clean there?

I personally don't know how to read datalogs other than looking at timing corrections

It's a dynapack. Dyno dynamics are even more nazi than mustang dynos. FBO + meth dynoed 333 whp on that dyno.

I know this is an old thread but there's no way that's an optimistic dyno. Stage 2 aggressive is usually 365-380whp. Excellent job brentuning
