Question Red Calipers 328xi

Hey guys!

After a couple of quick searches around the forum, I found a good shop near me that could paint my brake calipers. Red looks good on a lot of cars that I have seen but they all have different rims. Mine are stock from the sports package in 2008 so these guys: http://www.hubcaphaven.com/mm5/merch...egory_Code=634 . I know they look a little bit better with rims that really expose the calipers, but I'm wondering if they would look any good with these rims? Let me know what you think!

Here are some pictures:

Help me figure out what would look best with my color scheme! It's an overcast day so everything looks really dark...but you can picture the rest. I'm planning on eventually powder coating my rims gunmetal since I actually really like them a lot. Thanks!

I actually didn't get them painted yet, I'm just wondering if it would look good with the rims that are in the link I provided. Everything's just stock on my 2008 328xi sedan for the rims/wheels.

They'll look fine. They won't be all that visible with those wheels, but Red is just fine.

Thanks that's what I was thinking. They would be noticeable but not very intrusive. I think I'll have them done next week so I might post done pics!

You should do them yourself. It's really not bad. Check the DIY and buy the G2 caliper paint. It costs like $30-$40 I don't remember.

I am just more comfortable with a professional job. I'm sure this would be more cost effective but I rather it just be a one time thing and look great for a few extra bucks. I think I'm going to stick with red since it should really matches nicely.

I hope you have aftermarket rotors, wheels, and a drop. It will kind of look out of place if you don't.

Nope everything is stock. They paint black around it so that it doesn't look completely random. My rims cover up a lot but I think they will still be plenty viable. Plus...I can always get new rims later on and the calipers would compliment nicely!

I think he meant stock calipers look odd. A lot of people don't like stock calipers in red but if you are into it, go for it. I sprayed me E46's calipers blue & loved it. Going with black for my E90, subtle...

I say do black, honestly it's the classiest option and gets the job done covering up the ugly look of the stock calipers.

Hmm I'm actually getting worried as I read more and more...I really like the red caliper look on cars but I guess stock calipers are too ugly? It's hard to picture but I have an appointment in two days to get them painted and need to decide on a color

No covers. Covers make you look like a poser.
Paint the stock ones whatever color matches the car.
On my e30 M3 and my e36 M3, they were red.
My 335 will get dark blue.

Thanks for the advice I'm hearing a lot of this...I own a 328xi so the calipers are really small! I want to go read or yellow but would it look dumb with such small calipers?

Good call. I'm really young and don't really care if other people think it looks cheesy. I think it looks sweet! After looking at a lot of options I think I'm going to go with yellow, it seems to make the calipers look a bit bigger.

stock calipers are ugly and if you paint them you would make them better. I had my previous bmw with blue stock calipers and they looked sick, and i did the job my self its faily easy you dont have to be a pro trust me just tape up really good, prime and paint... good game.

Thanks for the heads up! I think as long as I am satisfied with my car and make it look aggressive...yellow calipers will just add to it I'm young and going for a tougher look than just a standard professional BMW. I am getting a professional to do it however...since I will only do my own work for stuff that is removable for resale if I ever need to. Thanks again!
