How does JB4's map 5 work?

I've heard that map 5 on the JB4 "adapts" to your mods and "learns" what's there. I'm curious if this is actually what it's described as. I just bought all the requisite boltons for my car, and am waiting to have them installed. I have been running map 1 since installing the JB4, since my car is otherwise stock. Once I have my dci, dp's, fmic, chargepipe, and bov installed I assume I'll want to push it up to another map. Do I have to do anything other than set it to map 5? Will it really "learn" what's there and adapt? Will this yield better performance than just using map 2 or something?

I run 93 octane 100% of the time and have no access to higher octane fuels. I also have no real interest in running meth.

No, yes, and IDK

I run map 5 all the time. I have DCI, DPs and custom exhaust with E85 shit runs like a beast.

I don't really have anywhere I can go to get it when I run out though. Modding/performance cars are pretty rare around here, and there's no E85 or similar to be had.

E85 with map 5 I have read same as meth and 93 oct.

I run meth all the time..... Love the power increase

When I go to the drag strip I run 100 % meth 50/50 e85/93 and up meth additive to 75
Had some fuel codes..... best was a 12.0
All codes issues sorted out I'll see 11's next specially with cold weather

IIRC any ethanol content measured due to feedback from LAMBDA sensor's results in adjustments, similar to modern Flex-Fueled Vehicles built after 2006 (according to DOE, a reputable agency), but not as complex, and completely different than using ancient technology such as a Flex-Fuel Sensor to measure ethanol content, like on vehicles built before 2006.

In the JB4 "Open Loop" fueling is auto-adjusted to try to keep A/F close to 12.1 as possible (it tries, it may or may not be perfect. I target, and also hover around 12.1). The reason I quoted "Open Loop" is because our fuel system is typically in a closed-loop mode unless otherwise triggered due to a failure of some parts. IIRC "Open Loop" is really more of upping base fuel pressure a certain percentage, which in effect, apparently increases closed loop fuel pressures.

I could be wrong though, so please don't quote me

As for auto-adjusting boost, The JB4 basically tries to make sure it's targeted boost doesn't trigger a DME timing correction, as the JB4 can't compensate for "knock" and uses the OEM DME for such tasks. If the knows the DME just retarded timing, boost is reduced to a safe level until you go into "auto-adjust" mode the next time (3-4 gears, WOT after 3,500rpm)
