Anyone had problems with his mirrors?? check this 1 !
- i went to work
- locked the car, tilted the mirrors (as i usually do) - finished work, and opened the mirrors. - right side was ok, the left side didnt stop, and tilted more, check the pics i took it to the dealer, waited for so long there, then they brought a new mirror, but just before the guy installs it, he hit the mirror so hard, KAWWK! (my heart fell that moment) but then it worked fine, he didnt replace the mirror i would say that someone hit my mirror while i was at work, but how? the mirrors were tilted!

I went to the movies, came out and noticed that my driver's side mirror was tilted back the wrong way. I believe they are meant to be able to do that. I played around with the retract button a bit and it eventually popped back into place.

Ouch.. that would be a scary to see.. I use my tilt feature a lot being out here in Germany where mirrors get hit often. But I only had one issue.. if you leave the car parked with mirrors up for a long time i.e. a week or more, you will have to readjust the line of sight.. not a big deal though.

the toughest part was entering the highway, the left side was a big blind spot!!!

I've had that problem greet me about 6 times now when I return to my car. It's jealous people who see that your mirrors are folded up, think you therefore take care of your car and decide to try and break them off for you. Mine are electric folding ones and I've had footprints on them from where people have wrenched them back to the normal position and then kicked them until they look like your picture.
Luckily they are made of tough stuff and they just pop back into place with your hand, but if I ever find someone doing this they'll have a footprint on their face. |

yeah I had that problem with my driver mirror as well. I everytime I unfolded the mirrors using either the button on the door or the key remote, the driver mirror wouldn't stop and would fold out like that.
The dealership replaced the mirror and I haven't had a problem since. Although, I must admit, I'm not folding the mirrors as often any more... My warranty will run out in a year and well, a problem like this would cost a lot to fix out of warranty. Cheers. |

I would say that would be the best way to go, if they offered a good deal I would go with them. There are also a lot of third-party warranty companies that are good but I can't tell you who is good because I am currently in Germany and didn't have a chance to look into that myself.

I had similar problems with the e46 folding mirrors - this went on for 4 years!
Even better - when someone clips your mirror when you are on the move the glass comes away from the suction cup and breaks. The glass is heated and there is a ribbon connector with 2 spades on the back to fix to the heating element. When the glass comes out it takes the spades with it and rips them off the ribbon. You won't be surprised to hear that the dealer has to take half the car to bits to replace the ribbon so new connectors can be fitted. I recall that the cost of replacing a £20 bit of glass ended up at £380 ($760) |
