Leather Trim on Doors ?

Should my 320d Sports Line have either or both of cloth and leather trim on the doors ? At the moment I have leather on the two driver's side doors and cloth on the passenger doors. Per the photos, both have the red stiching.

Thanks in anticipation .....

That is odd .... Go back to dealer and look at the other cars but that seems wrong. My Z4 and X5 have leather on all doors

That would have to be a mistake surely. Leather on one side and fabric on the other? How could the dealer not notice that when selling the car.

leather all round... specs in the brochures state leather trim... nothing about cloth.

Surely it's not meant to be like that?

Yes that is defintely wrong!

I have a 328 Sportline and it is definitely leather on both passenger and drivers doors.

I'm sure the dealer will rectify it for you.

It looks like you got half a Euro/RoW spec interior trim (they get Track cloth Anthracite with Red or Grey accents as standard, or Dakota leather as an option).

You should get the dealer to check that you do actually have an Oz spec car (with incorrect door trims).

Edit: I assume you have Dakota leather Black with Red accents on front and back seats.

I checked the brochures I have at home as well and yes it only mentions leather trim. I really doubt it would be 1/2 leather and 1/2 cloth. Doesn't seem to make any sense.....

I also checked my mates sportsline and it has all leather...

I hope when you tell the dealer, they don't try anything funny and help you resolve it as quick as possible. Really makes you wonder how it got past the pre-delivery inspections like that

Another post mentioned tail lights falling off, now cloth trims instead of leather - might be corporate sabotage - next we'll see steering wheels with the Benz emblem on it

You probably know that the door is assembled to the car for [painting etc. It is then removed and goes on its merry way to separate parts of the factory to be fitted out. The main car body is easier to fit out without the doors in the way.

So later down the track, the supposedly correct doors magically appear after the fit out, ready to be put back on the body. Most likely scenario was 2 doors of the same (paint) colour on the assembly line were mixed up. Cloth went on yours and quite possibly, another cloth car has your leather door.

Very surprising no one noticed, probably because no one looks for such a thing. Too busy looking at paint finish, blemishes, gaps & the like. I doubt door swaps happens terribly much, if at all - except in your case.

just still super surprised in aus it wasn't noticed ... cos I didn't think we had cloth trim at all on 3'ers.

I suppose you're right though, no one probably looked for this cos they're too busy lookign at everything else...?

Technician looked at them - shook his head.

Warranty fix. They'll order them in - about 3-4 weeks. And they'll get the passenger side wind noise issue resolved by replacing a pillar seal too.
