iPod Out
Will this work from any iPod or is it just certain models?
Will it work without the snap-in adapter? Just using the white iPod charge cable? Or what about over Bluetooth? If it helps, the car has Professional Nav, BMW Assist, BMW Assist Online but NOT BMW Apps. Thanks. |

With Nav and assist you can use standard Apple USB cable; you don't need the Y-cable.
I've attached an ipod nano, iPhone, and an iPad; all work via a standard Apple cable. I can't say if every model will work or not. If the device has bluetooth and current enough firmware, you should also be able to stream audio over A2DP without even using the cable. I think the snap-in adapter is only for iPhone. I don't have it, so I'm not sure. |

Cheers. I've just read that to use the PlugIn feature I need BMW Apps. This is apparently available as a retrofit now. Anyone how much the dealer would charge for it in the UK?

I would like to know what this 'iPod Out' really gives me ... everybody is concern about album art, but what I am missing is the basic iPod (classic) navigation options. In my 2007 E92 I was able to see 'Artist, Album, Songs, etc' categories and navigate through them pretty much like on iPod itself. Now with my new 2013 F30 (Nav, BT, BMW apps, ...) I can only see Playlists directly - the rest is only accessible through cumbersome Search option that is if not worthless then definitely step back from what was available in my 5 years old model.
I am connected via Apple USB cable in the central armrest. Please tell me that I am wrong and I am missing something - this ommision really bugs me in otherwise awesome vehicle ... |

Just under £500. I think I'll wait and see if BMW offer it as a dealer fit option. That way I can haggle for a discount. It's only about £90 if it's ordered with the car from new so almost £500 to add it on, simply because I didn't realise that it would have been useful, is a crazy price!

Yeah that is a crazy price. Who is charging that?
Have you seen the other threads on coding? I haven't got my car yet but when I do i'll be taking a close look at that thread to see what I need to do and what options can be enabled. My car is a company lease and I hit my allowance limit with 19"s and Xenons (my must have options) so didn't have any option to get the Internet, BMW Live or BMW Apps options...
