Children in front passenger seat
I am concerned about the rare occasion when I put my 50 pound daughter in the front passenger seat for the 5 minute drive home from school when I have 2 other kids in carseats in the back. I sometimes see the airbag activation light flicker on and off when she is in the passenger seat and want to make sure that the front passenger airbag WILL NOT go off if I get in an accident.
My dealer said that the airbag will not go off because my daughter is too light and the sensors in the passenger seat will prevent this from happening. Does anyone know this for sure? And why would the airbag activation light flicker on and off when she is in the passenger seat? |

If light is on solid, you're OK, otherwise airbag is activated as normal.

If she is heavy enough to make the airbag go off she should be fine if it does.
The best thing for anyone is to sit as far away from the airbag as possible. So just make her push the seat all the way back |

Not sure if you want the air bag to come on or not (don't have kids so I don't know at what age/weight it should come on) but I have read that you should be able to go to the dealer and have them adjust when the air bag comes on, ie if you don't want the air bag to come on when your child sits in the seat then have them adjust it to come on at 75lbs, if you do then adjust it to come on at 25lbs. But as for the flickering on and off I would image that it is just the way she is sitting, moving around in the seat and shifting pressure on the sensor.

I believe it's 60 pounds before it activates the Airbag protection. She is close to the weight limit and it might be confusing the senor a bit.

E90fleet gives good advice.
If you're still concerned, can you pull the fuse?
