A funny thing happened….

When I was on my track day (see my earlier post “The Best Day Ever”) http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=72747
I had one odd engine glitch.

On about my third lap around the 1 mile circuit , the engine went into (what I think was) limp mode i.e. a funny half-shaded engine symbol, no power, stuttering engine. I pulled into the pits, switched the engine off and back on and then all was fine for the rest of the day.

The funny thing to me was that it happened only once on lap 3 but then the car ran faultlessly for the remaining 67 laps or so. And I was driving hard.

The outside ambient temperature was 55F (12C) and the engine oil temperature never exceeded 250F (120C).

Does anyone have any ideas?

Cheers

having long cranks on startup? Could be a fuel pump issue.

Startups are fine. Maybe it was a "one off" hiccup.

Cheers.

Do you remember what the symbol looked like, to look it up in your manual? that's what I'd do...

Maybe it was the traction control kicking in as you were warming up, and taking a corner too hard?

I know it wasn't the traction control. It was going crazy all on its own most of the time (I need a LSD).

I looked in the manual but could not find the symbol I saw. Is there a site that shows all the possible error symbols? It may have been a box with "T" on top but I can't quite remember. Rats.

Cheers.
