Comfort access
So,
I've been waiting for 3 days (of 8 weeks) for my new car, and the suspense is killing me. I've read the handbook several times One thing I can't see - if I configure the doors to only unlock driver's side on first 'unlock' but use the comfort access to open the door, does it still just unlock the driver's door? If so, and I want to let in a passenger, do they have to wait for me to get in and unlock the door with the interior button? :| Thanks, -A |

controls In general, there is no difference between using convenient access or pressing the buttons on the remote control to carry out the functions mentioned above. You should therefore first familiarize yourself with the instructions on opening and closing starting on page 18. 5. Use button 1 to select: > Press the button once to unlock only the driver's door and the fuel filler door. Press the button twice to unlock the entire vehicle.

You have a choice of settings on the locks.
1.) One button push unlocks driver door, second unlocks all. This also means when you use the CA and just grab the driver's door, it only unlocks the driver's door. I've not found a way to unlock all the doors with CA when the locking option is set this way (from the driver's side.) However, if you grab the passenger handle, it will unlock all the doors. 2.) One button push or driver handle touch will unlock all doors. This is how I have mine setup, because invariably I want to open the rear doors, and the first option is annoying. Sensors on all the doors would have been really cool, but not available on the 3 series. This is a setting in either iDriver or the main dash display through the control stalk. I don't have iDrive, so I set it to unlock all via th main dash display.

Thanks, Scott!
I notice that you're a local - altho I guess you haven't got to try your 335 in the snow, or on the drive out to Crystal / Stevens / Snoqualmie / Whistler yet? |

If you grab the door handle with "driver door only" setting you will have to push a button, either on your fob or the one in the interior to open the other doors. I'm pretty sure you can't grab the handle again to unlock the other doors. I enabled "all doors" on my car for this reason since I frequently have other family getting in with me.

Even though I have the cold weather package, I have zero plans to drive this car up to the ski resorts. I'll take the Durango for those trips. I'm planning a trip around Rainier soon, up over Paradise via 410 and back via 167. Almost the same drive as the TWR in the regional forum.

FWIW, I find CA most useful when set to "open all doors." So if I have passengers, or if I want to throw something in the back seat, it doesn't matter whether I approach the car from the driver's side or passenger's side.

When I got my car, I became sick of having to press the unlock button on the centre console to unlock the other doors. I usually put my suit jacket on the hook in the rear and my brief case on the rear seat, so it was just plain frustrating, and negating the convenience of CA. So like others, I changed the settings to unlock all doors, and have been a happy camper every since.
