Depending on which system you start with.
Depending on which system you start with.
It is a mess or a very messy mess. The problems with changing to and aftermarket head unit are. If you do not relocate the original head unit to the trunk 1)Alarms and chimes may not work (PDC being one) 2)You loose any Most Bus functions which include BMW Assist ,PDC , Satalite Radio , BMW Bluetooth and some of these will cause error displays on your dash as the car searches for these and they are no longer hooked up. 3)If you take your car to the BMW dealership and the car requires updates or repairs for which the values in software have to be changed the BMW diagnostic computer will not be able to make them. It works in such away that if it does not see the original configuration of the car it won't go further until it does. So if you are doing this kind of change at a minimum do not sell or dispose of your original head unit. head unit http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...hlight=dynavin http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...hlight=dynavin http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...hlight=dynavin http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...hlight=dynavin Last edited by ctuna; 08-13-2012 at 11:22 AM.. |

If you do OEM like that guy did 4500 for parts.

I estimate it would probably be another 3k or more in labor not practical for those in the US or most any other place. You have to make some decisions here. You have the info . If you change to an aftermarket head unit you can get all the stuff in one unit but it has side effects to do it right you have to re locate the head unit. There are many side effects, logic 7 is and extra one
The only thing different about logic 7 is you loose the amp in addition to the other side effects as nothing but the BMW Head unit will interface with it.
The BMW Head Unit acts as an interface or server for add ons like bmw bluetooth , bmw satalite radio, bmw assist, the cd changer through the most bus . Also the logic 7 amp runs off this same bus. Also the disconnection of these item will generate errors that will appear on your dash display in some cases if you have them. When the BMW computer at the BMW dealership does diagnostics on the car it looks for the original configuration of the car if is doesn't see it errors will result and you won't be able to get your car repaired without remounting the original radio. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...veHX3Q&cad=rja Last edited by ctuna; 08-15-2012 at 05:25 PM.. |
