A/C blowing out of vents straight into windshield?

I have two vents on top of my dashboard that blow air straight up into my windshield. They're located on either side of a speaker, and they blow when I have the setting on the normal dash vents, not the defrost vents.

Anyone know how I can shut them? It's annoying because when it's hot & humid outside I get a ton of condensation on the outside of my windshield.

Thanks.

do you have the manual vent position set correctly (far left side of hvac controls)

the top light should be off, the bottom 2 can be on

Yes, I have it set that way. When I use the defrost vents (top button), they turn off.

that doesn't sound like it's working right to me, if the light's not lit, there shouldn't be air coming out of those vents

too many computers in these darn cars today!

When does air come out of those vents for you, when it's set on the top button?

It can come out of that vent either on Auto or when the top button is pressed (the one with the arrow pointing up).

There are air circulation settings in iDrive, if you have it. You can adjust how much of each of the vent "zones" (indirect air to windshield, to the face, to the feet) are used when the car is in Auto mode. At least, I think that's what that iDrive screen does. If you have it, try turning that vent off completely.

ok, I think I see the issue

the top button controls the vents right up against the windshield only

the center button controls the face vents, AND the 2 vents where the Nav hump would be if I had it, so mine works like yours does

the way to do what you want is to only use the footwell vent (bottom button)

I guess you learn something new everyday, I wouldn't have thought those 2 vents on the top of the dash would have been connected to the face vents

So it sounds like yours work the same as mine.

I guess that's just another problem with 80 degrees and 90% humidity at 6AM.

that's so european - they hate to have cold air blowing on them. most auto settings on european vehicles have the air mainly directed towards vents that are indirect (i.e. windshield).
