Stock air filter and Interior trim wrap OR BMS DCI upgrade?
My air filter is due for a replacement and I'm debating if I should:
1. Get a stock replacement air filter for $25 and spend $90 to get materials for a carbon fiber interior trim wrap 2. Get a BMS dual cone intake for $95-120 and hold off on the interior trim wrap I viewed some youtube videos and the sound from the BMS DCI is pretty cool but it seems to kick in at high RPMs. My driving habits is tame compared to most. I shift to 2nd at 3200-4000rpm, to 3rd at 4000rpm, to 4th/5th/6th at 3200-3500rpm. I rarely find myself shifting above 4500rpm. Any suggestions? |

With your driving style, a DCI isn't worth getting -- Go with a K&N filter and the interior wrap. Unless you're modding for performance (tune, intake, meth, etc etc), a DCI isn't justified

i usually dont say stuff like this, but those are all pretty cheap items.... i hope your money situation isnt that tight! if it is, dont waste it on your car. instead use it towards a fun night out. just my 2 cents.

i understand all the criticisms with my "dilemma" over just a hundred dollars but if i can save it, i would. it seems the best thing to do is to just go with the stock filter.

I just got a DCI. It is not worth it unless you have a jb4 or running more boost.
I had it for about a week with everything else stock not really that loud. Then a week with a jb+ at 50% and you could hear it a bit more and even more with the jb+ at 75%. Then I got codes and took the jb+- surprised how quite it is with stock boost. Then I put my stock box back in and I will tell you the car feels quicker in the lower rpms but a little slower(lag) in the high rpms. Thus with what you are saying on a stock car that spends more than 70% of its time below 4k you will get more pleasure from seeing your cf trim inside than rarely hearing the dci outside. I would go stock or kn drop in and do the cf trim and if you get the bug a few weeks/months later about a dci again you can always buy a used one for 50-70$ shipped. |
