Z-PC whats your thoughts?
well I'm a zaino guy, and have been using there stuff for sometime now but never tried the Z-PC swirl remover I've always used Scratch X for stuff like that, but for some reason scratch x just isn't cutting it anymore, so I'm sure one of you detailing guys have used this whats your input on it? oh and i will be doing it by hand since its just small spots that need treatment. thanks in advance guys....or girls

I haven't tried Z-PC yet, but I can offer you an alternative, try poorboy's line of swirl removers, SSR1, 2, 2.5, and 3. If Scratch X is not cutting it for you, perhaps buy a bottle of the relatively more aggressive SSR 2.5.

ZPC is enough and is pad dependant. You can use it with a Light Cutting pad to get the same results of SSR2.5 or use it with a polishing/finishing pad to clear up haze and halos.
ZPC works well with a rotory too. |

The Z5 didn't help either? I was prepared to take my bike back tot eh painter and have him polish some blemishes, but I got a bottle of Z5 by mistake in my order. When I called, they told me to just try putting a coat of Z5 on and leave for 30 mins before dinner in the evening over the next couple of weeks and see what I thought. If I didn't like it, send it back. I didn't send it back. I think I did 5 coats during that time.
Granted, its a bike so not as much time involved, but its an almost black bike. And since you are doing small areas. |

I've used SSR1, it's not abbressive enough, so I'm going to order myself a bottle of SSR 2.5, for what it's worth, I think SSR1 is just slightly more abbressive than Scratch-X. My kitchen table is lacquered, and was badly scratched ( a lot of micro-marring, but none that can be caught with fingernails), I used SSR1 and a PC, that worked wonderfully, the table's nice and shinny again! The result I got from SSR1 impressed me so much that I'm going to get 2.5 and 3.0 for removing deeper swirls on my car

z5 is a filler though, so everytime you wash your car, the swirl/scratch will come back
z-PC and SSRs are abbressives that get rid of swirls for good Quote:

Not soo quickly with the Z5. I don't know what it uses to fill in swirls, but unlike regular glazes thjat use oils, Z5 doesn't, and seems to take a while longer before the swirls re-appear. |

I was speaking from experience, and that's what I've found. It is a filler, so eventually the scratch/swirl WILL come back

Interesting thread regarding polishes. From my experience of using Poorboy's polishes is they work great when used correctly. I personally find that the Menzerna line of polishes is far superior for depth and gloss as well as removing imperfections, especially when you look at their best couple of polishes, PO106ff and Super Intensive Polish (which we have on order).
The difference between the Poorboy's and Menzerna line-ups is that Poorboy's line of polishes uses larger abrasives, which means they take longer to properly break down and do not finish down as fine. Menzerna uses a higher concentration of smaller abrasives in all of their levels of polishes. The Menzerna polishes were designed to work specifically with a buffer (Random Orbital or Rotary), but once they begin to break down, they tend to finish down finer since the abrasives are already starting out much smaller. I haven't personally used Z-PC because I've been hesitant to switch what works for me, the Menzerna line, but I found this thread very interesting to read. Good info! George |
