I don't think the dealer will take it and if they do, you lose the parts. It's better to part it out, sell it and recover some of your money back.

My car is less than a month old but this is a list of what I have or have ordered so far:

Modified (gutted) CDV from Zeckhausen Racing
M-Sport steering wheel + shift knob + eBrake handle cover, all with matching perforated leather, from Pbough Racing
Smart Top module from Mods4Cars
iForged Monaco hyper black 19" wheels with 235 & 275 Falken tires (all slightly used, from a Forums member)
OEM M-Technik full body kit from MW Design in Vancouver
GP Thunder 8500K bulbs, 2 sets - one set for angel eyes one set for fog lights, also from Pbough Racing
///M door sill trim plates & steering wheel trim with ///M logo from Hammersley Motors on eBay
OEM aluminum pedal covers + dead pedal cover from dealer
OEM headlight switch with rear fog, from dealer

I am saving all the original pieces to put back on the car when the lease is up, and the used mod pieces, if still good, will find their ways to eBay.

The M-Technik kit should arrive at the body shop early next week. The car will be going in for Step One as soon as the pieces are there!

In planning stage:

Lowering springs (or coilovers so that I can raise the car back to normal height for winter wheels and tires)
Procede??

I only lease and have never turned a car or truck in. If you take very good care of it and do mod's, 5K + on wheels alone, I will find a buyer in a week. They will appreciate the shape it is in and the stuff i have done to it. Or I will buy it. My 350Z was due to turn in and CarMax gave me 2K more than my residual value. Kept the 2K and cut Nissan their balance. Mod On, I say.

Lease - only mod is a set of blacklines because I can remove and sell on ebay or put on my next lease when this lease is done.
I know I'm not buying at lease end so I'm not going nuts on a car that is a rental anyway.

First off, theres no body kit. Only thing I added was the rear lip spoiler(everyone now thinks I did a body kit though so Im flattered).

Secondly, Ive been modifying leased cars for over 17yrs. Ive learned to modify in a way that everything can be taken off and sold at the end of the lease. I call them "tangible" assets.

Only once did I turn a car in with mods but that was because I was too lazy to take them off. Dealer got a good deal on that as it was a 93 300ztt with the stage 1 chip and skyline brakes all around.

My M3 was leased but I had put so much into it during the lease that I decided to just buy it at the end of the lease. So now it sits in the garage lol.

I have a lease and have yet to do anything. But plan to do:

Blacklines, Carbon Fiber rear spoiler, Carbon Fiber splitters, matte black or Carbon fiber kidney grill. New rims.

Simple stuff.

Modifying a leased car sounds like a big waste of time and money since you have to put it all back how it was at the end. Buying a car at the end of a lease is an even larger waster of money.

How is it a waste of money if all the parts are sellable?

Secondly, not everyone buys their cars at the end of the lease. However, for you, a crash course in leasonomics: If the value of the car at the end of lease is worth more than your buyout, you now have the ability to have equity. Therefore, you buy the car and sell it for profit. If theres no equity, you turn it in and lease a new car. Most leased cars have lower mileage upon end of lease than cars that are financed, ergo they are worth more in 3 yrs. Its easier for me to sell my leased car for a profit and your purchased car in the same timeframe. Oh, and I paid less in those 3 yrs, more than likely without a deposit, than you did. So, again, please tell me how its a waste of money?

Let me give you a lesson is partingout-onomics. Not only will get far less for your 2 year old used parts then what you paid, the time to undo all that work is probably worth even more to most people than the loss of $$$. The same reason people sell their used cars to snakes at Carmax instead of spending the time to get more on the street. Time is a vaulable comodity.

My car is leased as well, I'm aware of how it works, thanx though. If you intend to buy the car at the end of the lease, you might as well finance it, it would cost less then leasing, then buying it again at the end of the lease. Most people dont have equity in their leased car in the end, so you've had some good luck, and I congratulate your excellence

Ive been modifying and leasing for the amount of years previously stated. I dont need any help understanding parting out. Youve made your point that you think modding a leased car is silly. Thats your opinion and its welcomed but we all like to mod cars regardless. I will always mod my leased cars even if its a ferrari. I dont mod my cars thinking about the loss of selling the parts at the end. I mod my cars thinking about the enjoyment I get from those mods for whatever limited time I have with them. Thats why I do most of my modding right at the begining of the lease. Either way, I usually go with the "theory of half". If I get half of what I paid for the part when I sell it, then it was worth it to me.

A lot of people dont intend to buy their cars at the begining of their lease. Also, a lot of people might not have all that money up front to finance their car. They might have a situation where an investment comes to fruition in that 3 yr timeframe. I had NO intentions of buying my M3 at the end of the lease, however after 15k in mods(a learning lesson mind you) I decided it was more feasable for me to finance it than take everything off and sell/turn in. I own the car now and its mine. Did I pay more for it over the long run of leasing and then buying, maybe. However, its my baby and I dont recognize any extra loss of money into it as I know it will retain its value very well. I looked at it as an investment(yeah I know cars arent investments) so when you owe nothing on something and can sell it for more than nothing, thats money back in your pocket.

Im not saying everyone should buy their leased car, sure you end up paying more. But who are you to tell them they are wrong for doing it?
