Lamest ticket you've ever gotten or pulled over for? In your Bimmer or not..
Today I received a "following to closely" ticket dated April 16th(I bought the car on April 11th )! Talk about lame... Apparently they claim they have a video of me driving by at 138kph/85mph on a no speed-limit autobahn while only having a distance of 21 meters/69 feet between me and the car in front of me. "The law states you must have a distance of half your speed between you and the car in front of you meaning I should of been 69 meters/226 feet away from the vehicle. Wait it gets worst... not only do I have to pay a outrageous fine of 170 Euros/235 Dollars but I get to park my BMW for a month . Only plus is I get to pick which month...
WTF?! It's my first traffic violation of any kind in the 2 years I have lived here:mad :! I plan to fight it though, the "picture" they sent me only shows my car and not the car in front of me (of course with that BIG gap of 70 feet it would be hard to see it right?). That and if the car in front of me hit its breaks of course the distance between us is going to shrink.. or if the traffic was heavy which is what I bet happened. This is the "gheyist" ticket I've ever seen.. Just like a cop, hiding under a bridge secretly video taping you.

I had two cops in a paddywagon pull me over in downtown Boston at 11pm on a Sat. night because they "observed" me speeding an estimated 10mph over (40 in a 30), got a $150 ticket. Fought it and lost in court.

I got a ticket for going 45 mph on a college campus in 1985 - the speed limit was 20. Ordinarily, this would seem to be a pretty routine ticket except that it was a 1/4 mile stretch of road in the farmlands surrounding my town of 2,000 people but it happened to pass by a experiment station (they did something with corn) and every road "on campus" has a 20 mph speed limit. The speed limit sign was obscured by a huge tree and there was absolutely no logical reason that the speed limit would just go to 20 in the middle of nowhere but ...
Luckily, there just happened to be a campus police car stationed at the site to nab lawbreakers like me - only 45 miles from the actual campus. They caught about 200 "speeders" like this before the county commissioner put up a fuss and they stopped being douche-bags. |

i hear you, i got pulled over for following to close as well. The thing is the cop put his lights on.. and after 1 minutes while at the red light i noticed and i thought he wanted to pass me.. Then he shut his lights off and looked as he wanted to pass me. So i thought he wanted to pass. Then he stopped and just relaxed... Then i look thru my rear glass and ask him if he wants me to pull over... then he takes a 10 second pass and shakes his head yes in confusion... then he pulls me over and asks how fast i was going, then if i have tints, then i had short time of putting my blinker on, then didn't give enough time to change lane, in the end he gave me a fucken following to close ticket. I was so pissed i didn't notice until i got to work. Fucken cop, and when he gave it to me, he stayed there like he was waiting for a thank you. I closed my window while he is next to me looking to me and i looked at him.. Tunred on my car and bounced...
I have to go to court for that later this month... Ass cop! This happend in Livingston

I doubt they faced a heavy fine + a 30 day license suspension.

Here in Jersey, the local cops are notorious for pulling people over for crazy reasons. (The state troopers are usually pretty cool). I was in a small town here in northern NJ a few weeks ago getting coffee at a dunkin donuts. A local cop was also there getting coffee. He came out ahead of me and I saw him go out of his way to walk around my car twice before he got in his prowler. I pulled out ahead of him and we met up again about a mile up the road at a stop light. (there was three lanes of traffic waiting at the light each lane about 10 cars deep.) The light turns green and we all start up the road again. I then see him pull into the grass shoulder of the road and pull in front of 4 cars to get behind me. He flicks on his lights and pulls me over.
As he walked up the the car I was furious. (I did nothing wrong and he was just screwing with me.) He asked me if I knew why he pulled me over. Normally I am very polite to cops but I was really pissed at this point. I said "I have no idea, but does it really matter what I say?" He gave me a strange look and started to lay this BS on me that when we were stopped at the light I was too close to the car in front of me. (Remember, we were STOPPED at a light in heavy traffic!!!) I could not help it and literally started laughing. I was so angry at this point I said "If you really think I did that then write me the ticket and we will deal with it in court." The look on his face at that point made the whole thing worth while. He looked inside of my car for a few seconds and said that he was just giving me a verbal warning. He then had the balls to say that it was my lucky day that he was in a "good mood". It's cops like him that give all the other good cops a bad name. |

Lamest ticket?
I was on I-95 about 300 yards from an exit. Traffic was at a standstill. I was in the slow lane. I sat for 10 minutes watching the a-holes drive along the shoulder to the exit. Finally, the accident was cleared and the traffic started to move very slowly. About 100 yards form the ramp, a Z3 went by me on the shoulder and I though "f$*k-it, I'm getting off at that exit anyway" and I pulled in behind the Z3. Next thing I know, two cops have about 20 cars pulled over and I am made to join them. Got a ticket for passing on the shoulder. $60. No points. What really pissed me off was that after we had been pulled over, the cops started from the back of the line and the Z3 took off. Dunno if he later got caught.

I got a failure to yield right of way at a stop sign the day after I got my license. I was stopped at a stop sign and it looked clear when all of a sudden a state trooper came flying out of a blind corner but I had already started to turn and cut in front of him. He made a u-turn and pulled me over.

Lamest was a Fat Lazy cop pulling the wife and I over on our way home from work. NOT for a moving violation, but because the wife's tags were 2-weeks expired. (I had no idea) I wasn't too concerned, I was polite courteous and friendly about it... UNTIL Tubby waddled his fat ass back to his car and came back awhile later with a ticket for something like $125. Not a "Fix IT" ticket mind you, but a genuine fine. I lost it, it was just too Mikey Mouse.
Here we are, productive citizens being fined by a cop too chicken shit and cowardly to respond to any real calls, he's just looking to write "safe" tickets, be fat and lazy and go home. I told him as much, explained that he looked pathetic in uniform, and that he was really disgraceful. Asked him how proud this makes him, if he sleeps good at night knowing he's made a difference, how good it's going to look for the Duty Sergeant that He managed to Catch a Vile Criminal RED HANDED... Another thing I did was read the entire ticket VERY VERY CAREFULLY... Figured Officer Lard Ass could use the Sauna. The wife and I are in the A/C enjoying the cool temps, the officer stood there and soaked up the Florida Heat for 10 minutes. Long story short, I called his duty Sergeant and explained the situation, the way it went down, and the officers appearance and bearing. I also explained that I lost my cool and went OFF on the officer and for that I do apologize. I took that shit to court, explained in painful detail the days events, showed them my current registration and the ticket was dismissed. Though I got a brief lecture about NOT verbally Abusing public servants and how it could lead to a fine... Cost me easy $150 for half a day of work but I felt better. Cops have a rough enough time out there without Sloppy Fat Douche bags in uniform making the badge look pathetic.

Ha, I said the same thing at first. But if you look really closely through the windshield towards the driver door you can see me slumped over.. I must of been either bored at the moment or I was getting tired of driving.

Was it my skid marks?
3 weeks back I got a ticket related to "obstruction". My friend (a female) had wet bathing suit bottoms in her bag on the way home form the cottage. I hung them off the drivers side mirror of my F430 while on the way back into town.
Of course I get pulled over. Conversation went something like this.... Me: Good day officer. Cop: Shut the car off... License and registration please. Cop: Why do you have womens underwear on your mirror, especially while the vicheal is in motion? Me: Those aren't womens underwear, it's my man thong. Cop: *Hands me a ticket* Me: Have a nice day officer. Best $112 EVER spent! |
