6% up for MY 08 and no 1 series yet

I just spoke with manager when I tried to order an E92, which is not possible anymore. This is what he said.

-For 08 e92, there is a 6% increase. this would make a fairly base 328i coupe almost 40k OTD. What is BMW thinking? So, if any of you want to get a coupe, get it now before 6% up. I hope this is not true for the e90 also. 6%? that is crazy.

-1 series will be here for sure, but late 08 or early 09.

It looks like BMW is pushing the 3 series up a little, making room for 1.

Wow--6%? That seems like a lot--if this is true, may not be the smartest thing for them to do....

I think if they did that the 1 series would cut into 3 series sales considerably...

I just saw the new 135i coupe on their website, should be here by spring of 08. A 300-hp 1 series makes things interesting.. seeing as they will be cheaper than 3 series. Thats a lot of HP in a lighter car. If its quicker than the 335i I know some people will be pissed! Or am I the only one who thinks so?!

yes, the one will be here in spring of 08...

as far as pricing is concerned, i haven't seen any new information released yet...however, pricing increases each year is not abnormal. In fact it pretty much happens every year, with every BMW model...

However, 6 percent is pretty steep, and I doubt it will be that high. 1 to 2 percent is usually the norm.

actually, the exact is 5.95% . I just rounded to 6% earlier. This shocked me too, but i guess they need to make room for 1 series. and with the # of coupe that they're selling this yr. they think that the buyers really want this car.

I agree with that--but 6% on a 40K car is $2400. That is more like a markup you would see from a new generation--isn't that roughly the amount the E92 was more than a comperable E46?

It isnt the fact that price is rising--we know that happens--its just that if this 6% figure increase is correct--that is a large difference for a '08 MY that is not expected to be much different than the outgoing '07 MY.

Being that I've been in sales for almost 5 years for BMW, i'll be very surprised with an increase that large (adding more standard options or not).

Like the rest of you...I hope that isn't true...

EDIT: BTW, I just checked BMW's internal site, called centernet, and there isn't any pricing released for the 08 3's yet.

are you still in sales now? if so, can you confirm with your dealer? I am pretty sure this is true because I know that manager well. This is for the coupe ONLY. he didn't say anything about others.

wow bmw is really loosing. there getting carried away just because they have the Badge symbol.

lets review this over

1 series has 300hp ...hmm okay (lighter, faster? maybe)
3 series has 230-300hp uhhh shouldn't there be something unique about the 3 maybe oooh i dont know let see.

INCREASE ITS HP MORE THEN 300HP!!!!!

Yes I am in sales...pricing has not been released yet--however, if he's been informed by his regional rep on the 'low' ...that's a different story.

Well it appears its NOT faster... wtf? lighter but slower? Must be slower on purpose.. 335i is 0-62 in 5.0 secs right? Already bad enough a 128i will beat my 325i..

That would be strange.. I've had 1 series loaners a few times now.. and they are definitely smaller inside.

Further widening the gap between 328/335 vs A5, G37 is definitely not a good move. Just lower the price of the 1 series darn it!

No, I agree 6% is steep--I was just responding to the OP's info.

What I am really wondering is when the 1 will show up--have heard March '08--that sound about right?

I heard the 1 would start around $23/$24K. if so.. a fully loaded 135i has to be at least $28K if not $33K! I can't see them starting less than around that price range.. so a 3series price increase looks inevitable.
