My car should be back today or tomorrow
Ok so as some of you may remember my car has been scratched on the trunk, roof, and hood.
Well i dropped off my car at the body shop last monday and he told me it should be done by today latest tomorrow 7/17/07. he had to order a new piece and paint the car and paint match the car... Anyway years ago my dad took his X5 there and they did a awsome job so, i sent it to the same place. My question is, how soon can i Dawn,Claybar, zaino car wash, zaino AIO, zaino CS my car?.. Do i have to wait a certain amount of time? And last but not least... I am in serious need of modding my car... I believe my next mod wants to be the delete of side yellow reflectors.. But i'm scared for it to look bad. And what if they require paint matching as well??? I know of a couple vendors from here i am going to use for the product, but just wondering who is extremely happy with their product regarding that. Thanks. Will post pics soon!

If I was you, and didnt get my car back yet, I would purchase a set of new reflectors, bring them to the shop, and have them paint them w the same color they did the rear with...

Ok so my car will not be ready to but DEF tomorrow.
I went to see my car today.. OHHH SHIT!!! shit guy did a fuckin (sorry i'm to happy) awsome job. All the tiny rock chipps from the bumper, GONE, the scratches GONE, paint is perfect match and as previously saw wok on my moms x5, you can't tell the car ever had a problem. I'm so happy... he's waiting for the 335i badge to come in from bmw and the BMW roundel and that thing on the roof that holds a bike if you want. Anyway i'm ordering my reflector delete mod most likely this paycheck and having him putting on.. He told me i should of told him sooner, he would of did my reflectors, but then saw that it would be better if i bought the piece instead of painting over that yellow plastic. Anyway if anyone is looking for a AWSOME body shop dude for paint or dents and shit, let me know. this guy i would NOT trust anyone else with my BMW. Great PRice!!! Even when my front fender got f#@ up, BMW took it to some ass body shop place and first time they didn't match the paint. second time they did a way better job but it was a little darker than the rest of the car. Next time this dude... Any painting mod i have to do, i will def take it to them. I'll post pics tomorrow night when the car is ready.

WHAT IS?.... the body shop?
A body shop is where you take your car to install certain items or fix damage parts. LIke if you want a body kit installed, crashed your fender, etc... Where is it? It's in Newark. It's called body masters body shop. The place doesn't really look to high class. Infact when my dad took his X5 a while back I got worried because it doens't look like a high class body shop. Anyway the guy Steve is a cool dude, knows his shit, and nobody can take that away from him. My car was kept inside the body shop, and you couldn't believe my eyes once I saw my car... Well i get it today so can't wait.

ok guys here is the update.. I picked up my car today.. It looks sick, but when i get there:
1-the 335i badge was put to far to the right over lights on the trunk.. I didn't like it! 2-the BMW roundel he got delivered was from a convertible and sticks out So... 1-i didn't like the badge so i debaged it to get it fixed, BUT i'm starting to red threads about debadgeing.. and i'm starting to like it... I think i might keep it of.. what do you guys think 2-luckily he orderd another bmw roundel and it arrives tomorrow and he said to stop by after work that he will change it in 5 minutes. Pictures will come this weekend after i do my wash (told him not to wash it, i will). So what do you think, keep it debaged

If you paid for a 335i I don't see why you would benefit from debadging it...and it doesn't look that much better. The only time I Would debadge is if I had a 328..

regarding how long to wait before cleaning and waxing your new paint -
most body shops will say wait one month. The new paint needs that time to fully cure. |

Was that some kind of punch line?
This is taken from Meguiars Car detailing website out of convenience, you can find the same advice from other sources if you care to check: A new car with a factory paint job can be waxed the moment it is rolled out of the manufacturing plant. Cars that have factory paint jobs are cured at much higher temperatures, sometimes as high as 300 degrees in special baking ovens. At a factory level, the car goes through the painting and baking process without any of the rubber, plastic, and cloth components installed. This is why they can expose the car and it's fresh paint to such high temperatures. These high temperatures and special paints used at the factory level insures the paint is fully cured by the time the car is completely assembled. After-market paint finishes however are cured at a much lower temperature to ensure the method of baking or heating the paint doesn't melt non-metal components such as wiring and vinyl. For this reason, it's best to follow the specific paint manufactures recommendations for care and maintenance of fresh paint. Most paint manufactures that supply paint to the refinish industry recommend that you allow anywhere from 30 to 90 days curing time after the paint is applied before you apply the first application of wax. |
