...of course I dont mean from the inside. When I have the A/C on and I step outside, within 3ft of the car it feels like the blazing sahara and the sound the A/C makes sounds like a seperate engine in itself.
Is this normal or should I get it serviced? The car is only 2 weeks old btw. |

Mine seems louder than other cars I have had (non-BMW's). Don't know if this is "normal" - - but you are not alone. I'm not concerned. Enjoy your new ride. I just got beyond 7K miles on mine and it seems better all of the time!

I don't care about the noise or heat as much as the feeling I lost 150hp and 150 lb./ft of torque whenever I turn the A/C on.

I don't know about the E9x, but with my parents' Audi, when the engine is running hot (especially w/ A/C on full blast in hot days), there is an auxilary fan that kicks.

my car sound like that too, i can actually hear the difference in sound even when i am inside the car with all the windows closed, it happens to me whether the a/c is on or not when the temperature is hot outside/oil temperature is above 120 celcius on the oil temperature gauge on my instrument display

yeah, it's the aux fan for the rad. if you turn your engine off with the window down you can hear it turn off after the engine turns off. When this kicked in on my E46 it 'sounded' like a more powerful engine on the hwy.

Only after using the A/C that is... Once I step all the way out of the car I feel the normal outside temp.. as if I were passing through hot blowing air..

Got the same thing--loud with AC on a hot day. Most noticeable sitting in traffic. Even took it in to the dealer since it was definitely louder than my previous cars. SA said it was typical.
Guess the car is crying out for some cool Alpine air from the homeland.

We are just noticing this as well the last few days during the heat wave here.
The car is my Wifes daily driver and the first time this happened she looked left and right, expecting to see a huge truck beside her in traffic. This loud noise seems to happen most often after driving with A/C on for a while, stopping for a few minutes, shut the engine down, and upon re-start it's quite loud. I will be taking the car to the dealer to have this checked out, along with the strange anomaly where upon entering the car after it has sit for a while the CD player makes the whirring noise trying to eject a CD that isn't there! |

my e90 does the same
so I was off to show my car to the dealer as the sound was really annonying and loud. but the interior of the car is cool when AC is turned on, so no issues with that. the Dealer service rep opened the hood and checked the coolant level and he said all is fine and its because of the heat that the fan is making more noise and its natural.
my friend also has a 325i but he has no sound when he has AC on full speed. Anyway the dealer said he will check if im hear any crank noise or something like that. apart from that all is fine he said happy driving |

if I stand next to my car when the a/c is on I do notice a lot of heat coming from underneath the car
