Lexus IS250

I've been on these boards for a few months, and for the longest time I've put the 335 leagues above the IS250/IS350 from Lexus...got to drive a 250 tonight on the job (boutique hotel valet), and I must say I was VERY impressed with it, to the point of my questioning if I got the right car. I love the looks of my 3er, and the performance, which only the IS350 comes close to matching, but the interior of those cars is far and away better IMO. The leather was perforated and very comfortable, and they are very silent cars, much more touring.

The only reason I never actually considered the IS350 was because they didn't make it in stick, and I'm not sure if they do now...I heard they were for MY08. The IS250 just didnt have muscle enough for me.

The whole point to this story is this: anyone else had a moment where they got into another car and think they might've made the wrong decision, even if just for a split second?

Yeah, I was a Valet before and I parked so many different car and I have to say Audi and Mercedes AMG are probably the nicest car I ever put my foot in. After I took a drive test on the 335. Even though it is a lil bit stiff but I love that turbo power. I guess if u drive different car, you will find there's a unique individual feeling for each car. Just like girls bro, hahaha.

I came from an 07 IS350 X-package with 9K miles on the clock. I do agree that the IS has much better electronic gadgets (Navigation system), the interior layout quality tops the BMW but the FUN/HANDLING factor is just NOT there. It's more reliable but it's gone for 3+ weeks and I do NOT miss it at all. I dont feel connected to the road like I do with my 335.

Plus it doesnt have fold-down rear seats and the trunk is small. That(besides the non-manual option) is what did it for me.

I had that feeling when I sat into an RS4. But I mean, thats only logical. I really love the IS. I was considering one before the 335i came out, but it was just to cramped for my lanky self. It's kind of like being in a relationship. As much as you may feel guilty, you're always going to look

Lexus simply got the powertrain options wrong on the IS. I was hoping for a successor to the IS300, thinking they would use the engine from the GS300. Instead, they went with the underpowered 2.5 or the 3.5 with no stick. They aren't inline anymore, either. They're V. Stupid. Plus the car is longer than the 3 Series, yet has less rear leg room. There's also no paid maintenance and the suspension is not as impeccably tuned as the BMW's. The IS is definitely a beautiful car, provides a lot for the money, and has Lexus quality and ergonomics, but I don't regret my decision one bit so far.

My brother has an IS250 and I would rather be driven in an IS250 (unless I'm sitting in the back) but I would rather drive in my car.

Before I bought my 325i I was very, very interested in a Lexus IS 250. The interior quality, the sound system, even the general looks of the Lexus was much better, and its reability far better than that of the 325i.

But the Lexus lacked the sensitive powerfull brakes and the Active Steering of my now 325i. The Lexus brakes seemed to me too soft and insensitive.

I think everyone feels that way at some point, unless the car you bought was your dream car that you waited countless years to acquire. Other than that i think its just "want what you dont have" type of thinking.

IS250 would be parked in my garage if it had 2-3" more of rear seat leg room, a slightly larger trunk and 20 more hp.

i agree with you, the leather of lexus is so so so much nicer than BMW. and plus with all of the gadgets they are offering as standard like comfort access and electronic seat, it is much cheaper than 3ers.

btw, i got you a personal question if you want to answer. how much are you making as valet than you bought a 335i???

325/328 doesn't have Active Steering. By the way, do they make the IS250 for men?

With salary and tips included, I probably average out close to $20/hr, but that's not where I have my money from. I've been working since I was 16 years old (currently 21), and I never spent money on stupid things I knew I wouldn't want after I bought them; additionally, my Dad taught me very early on how to make my money work for me, and not the other way around...I've got an investor's monetary mind, and it has worked out well for me.

I came from an 02 IS300, and I loved that car. Almost considered an IS350, but one drive in the 6MT E92 and I had already forgotten how to spell Lexus.

Yes, there always gonna be better cars out there but none of them has the handeling/suspension from a BMW, plus you can't beat the 4 years/6yrs free oil changes...

I had a choice between the Audi a4, Lexus IS, BMW and CLK. I test drove only the BMW, I am a huge toyota fan but there is something about the BMW that none of the rest have, can't really put my finger on it (except the CLK) Mercedes' drives differently than every car on the road, but too expensive). I had to have the 3 Series coupe, It was the only one that came in a coupe form, and the rear seats had to fold down. The BMW was pretty much the only choice unless I wanted to shell out an extra 10k for the CLK.

This is called human nature...

when you have something for so long you get sick of it, or not appreciate it as much...

Flip this around, you own a lexus for an X amount of time, then you go Valet a 335i, you'll feel the same way..
