SOS System Malfunction
Hi
Lately I’ve been getting an intermittent SOS System Malfunction warning with the consequent disabling of Bluetooth and the radio. I’ve taken it to the dealer who promptly said it was a problem I created by using an unapproved Bluetooth phone. I know others have had this problem. What did the dealer do to fix it and did they cover it under warranty? Thanks, G |

Using an "unapproved" device can't create this problem. It sounds like a TCU failure.
In order to find out what the dealer did, you would have to read your bill and tell us.

Nope, i was having this same problem. Took it to the dealership they fixed it. I just got my car back so i'll write what they wrote on the service report. ***Short test was performed, this returned fault A379 related to bluetooth. reprogramming was performed; retested, condition no longer present. Everything OK*** and i use the bluetooth with the motorola RAZR which is approved... take it back tell them to check it

Thanks for all the information. Here’s what the service report says:
“…ran short test. No faults found. Checked for bulls. None found. Wrote PUMA, PUMA requested phone type. PUMA replied with owners phone is not approved and will destroy phone module and warranty will not pay for any phone or tel module repairs. Owner need to get approved phone. Delete all devices from TCU memory. Advise cust not to pair phone damage to TCU may already be done.” Personally I don’t see how pairing a phone can cause physical damage. Maybe it did screw up something in software but can’t it just be reflashed of whatever? At this point I think they’re just trying to get out of paying for warranty work. Grrrr. g |

Yep, they are just BSing you. I had that happen a few weeks back. Luckily, I let the car sit for ~15 minutes and everything was ok. *knock on wood*
The same issue has happened to too many people with "approved" phones. BTW, I have a Motorola RAZR

I'm experiencing the same issues, this has happened atleast 2 or 3 times now in a period of one month. I am just resetting the I-drive for now and it solves the problem temporarily. My phone is the D807 Samsung.
