Wait for Akrapovic or get something else?
I just heard that Akrapovic for the F30 is planned, but development won't start until 2013 and it takes a couple of months. So we are speaking almost a year from now to get one.
Is there really any alternatives in terms of fit, finish, sound and quality? I have used Akrapovic since the 90's on my motorcycles and they really are a notch above the rest there so I'm guessing they ain't to bad on the car side either. What other lightweight systems are available? And I am not talking about Meistershaft or something like that now. Akrapovic puts 4-5 months in to making the best possible system, so I am not looking for something that a company put 2 weeks on doing. |

Glad to hear Akrapovic is developing an exhaust for the F30--as far as I know, the current exhaust selection on the market is limited to BMW M-Performance, Challenge, Megan Racing and Meisterschaft for 335i and the aFe for the 328i.
I also have a carbon fiber Akrapovic slip-on for my bike, and it's far and away the highest quality and best sounding exhaust that I considered for my bike. Might be worth the wait for an F30 Akrapovic? |

Yeah, I am leaning towards waiting. My car arrives in september so basically it will be winter here from october through march so it might not be so bad waiting afterall. It's just that saying it is a year away sounds terrible!

The challenge sounds pretty darn nice. Not raspy at all. I don't know how much it costs they don't have it listed on their web site yet.

I think I will wait for the Akrapovic, unless someone comes out with something better (highly doubt that).
Is GTHAUS the same as Eisenhaus that had that "issue" with Eisenmann? |

Akrapovic is the bomb. M Performance is also great, little less noise (however still a great sound) and probably the Akra is a bit more powerfull (c. 2 hp) and probably also saves one or two additional kilograms...

We made sure to keep this one low on any droning at crusing speeds. Many miles were put on the car to make sure it has a good "sport" sound that everyone can live with on a daily basis.
We think pricing will be about $1500 for the full catback. Catless or HFC downpipe will be available about the same time. |

Of course. If it wasn't obvious, my words isn't the absolute truth but just my opinion.
But it takes Akrapovic 3-5 months to develop an exhaust. And it isn't because of lack of resources. You have to be a fool to think that an exhaust developed in 2-3 weeks will be on par when it comes to the total package. |

But Akrapovic will be sold and installed by the dealers (and other vendors) and will retain full warranties here in Sweden. I'm guessing that goes for more countries in Europe too. |
