Cleaning 335 Exhaust Pipe Tips?
Hi All
Sorry if this has already been asked before – did a search with no results. What material are the 335 exhaust pipe tips made out of? E.g. Stainless Steel, Aluminium? What is the best advice in cleaning and keeping them looking new? Thanks; LRS

In the 3 series accessories brochure, it shows polished tips being available. It's on a sedan... if it's just the tips, it should fit E92s too.

Page 10? It shows types for the non-335i.

they are aluminum, soap and a cloth will clean them, unless oyu havent in a while, in which case you should use something like mothers aluminum polish, it will take whats left right of and make them shiny again (the stock ones)

I'd be careful about using a polished because the tips have a brushed finish to them.

Thanks for everyones replies.
However, I'm a little confused. Is what you are saying is that the Outside of the tips need to be cleaned/polished in a different way to the Inside of the tips? What I don't want to do is destroy the stock "Brushed" aluminum look. I don't want to end up with shiny unnatural looking tips. Thanks; LRS

The bottom of the inside of my exhaust tip gets dirty and then the bottom of the outside of the exhaust tip. I'd take a picture but I just detailed my car. Regardless, it's better to give safe advice rather than the OP be like "wtf, I just ruined my tips."

Your suggestion of using (Mothers Mag and Aluminium Polish) on the 335 tips is an interesting one. Will the (Mothers Mag and Aluminium Polish) retain the flat, no gloss, no shininess finish that the tips came as from the factory? I really want to keep the same finish and appearance as they originally came with the car and not shine them up like chrome. Can you advise? Thanks; LRS

Thanks Picus
I've ordered the (Mothers Mag and Aluminium Polish) today. I'll let you know what I think. LRS

I know exactly what you are talking about and I use Never-Dull. It comes in a blue can and can be purchased everywhere---Wal-Mart, auto store etc. Just tear a bit of the cloth off and shine away then wipe it off with a clean rag. Super easy and you can do it any time, not just with washes. It is shiney but not crazy and will not mess up the finish. It is pretty strong so don't use it other places w/o a test patch first

I use the poorboy's sealant on the inside and outside. I have no problem with the finish and the dirt comes right off. I think the key is keeping them clean from the start...
