E46 M3 wheels on F30 335 xdrive?
So several years ago I bought a set of used E46 M3 18" wheels to use as my winter wheels on my 2006 M Coupe, worked great! I then sold them to my father to use on his 2009 M3 (never really checked if they would work or not) and he never used them. I bought a C63 and had to get a different wheel because of the bolt pattern. Now that I am probably going back to a 335 xdrive I wanted to know if I would have any problems using those old E46 M3 wheels for the winter?
I have to go to my parents house to check on the actual specs of the wheels but just searching ebay for them it appears that they are 18X8 (although the rear might be 8.5) 35 offset, 72.6 bore 5X120 bolt. I remember hearing that BMW has switched to a different bolt size though and its now 14X1.25 instead of the old 12X1.50 (which I am guessing the E46 used but not 100% positive on that). So does this mean only the 14X1.25 bolt will work on the F30? would that bolt fit through the old E46 wheel or is it going to be a trial and error thing? take it to a tire place and have them try it out? Any problem with using a snow tire that hasn't been used in 3 years but should still have 1+ seasons of tread left? |

im not 100% since i dont know the specs of your 18" wheels but i do know the e46 M3
had high and low off sets, 18x8 5x120 38et and 18x8.5 24et all M3 ( except new body) used high off set fronts and low off set rears. now if this is the case this would mean that the front wheels will work on your car but not the rears. the rears should be 35et-45et to work on the F30. as for the bolts simply use the factory bolts on your car. |
