Clear bra and Wax
I know many of you have clear bras on your e9x's, however I don't know about getting one.
I have seen numerous clear bras on used bmws over the last few months and they don't look good at all. Mostly because of waxing the car. Most of the cars I've seen have wax residue against the lining of the clear bra which makes the clear bra stickout. Basically outlining the clear bra in white. Talk about EWWW! How are you all avoiding this? Last edited by TMNT; 07-11-2007 at 01:03 PM.. |

I use painters blue tape on the edge of my clear bra when ever I wax or polish my car. I also never wax my clear bra. I use Plexus on the clear bra after I wash the car.

Wax with the grain of the bra and not against it. Don't move towards the edge, move away from it. Also, certain type of waxes won't leave residue A sealant is your best bet, a carnuba might show (although P21s wouldn't).

Plexus will take off any existing wax FYI.

I've heard Plexus is the stuff! I plan to try it immediately on mine when it's installed.

You should not wax/seal your clear bra for 30 days or so after install. It has to be able to "breeze" to dry out completely. There are going to be a few small water bubbles after installation which is normal and they will go away in a week or so.

I just got a clear bra for the car and had some bird
debris and other stains. Before I received my shipment of Plexus, I tried Zaino and some other products. Once the Plexus came in, it was obvious that it is the best choice for a clear bra, i.e., the Ventureshield. I assume that it is equally effective on the 3M product. Plexus really works. |

Good to know, in case my installer doesn't give me those instructions. The bubbles will freak me out for awhile... But at least if I'm expecting them I would have my team of lawyers at his office the next day. I'm assuming you meant "breathe"..?

Bart, I like the Plexus product a lot but I am fairly certain it does not layer at all. A pure wax, layers; something with a polish in it like Plexus, Klasse-All-In-One, Zaino-All-In-One, Color-X, Cleaner wax, etc. does not layer.
