How do you clean your windows???

I know this should be something basic for a lot of detailing experts, but for me having streak free windows doesn't seem to be the easiest thing to do. I've tried using newspaper and Invisible glass cleaner, just water and a towel, and still streaks when facing directly the sun. It's annoying seing those things in a brand new car! Please help, it will be very apreciated..

Invisible Glass should be fine, it's what I've always used on all my cars, streak-free. I use a MF towel with it, not newspaper, maybe that's the culprit?

MF towels make windows a breeze. There are different types of mf towels, they all work, but the glass specific ones work the best.

if it's that bad, i recommend you get some glass stove top cleaner! they removed some very nasty water spots off my tC, but this is my last resort. I usually use any regular windex

This is what I use for streak free glass. For interior glass, I'll use Stoner's Invisible Glass and three microfiber towels. The Invisible Glass can be used safely on tinted glass so it's great for both the interior and exterior. I fold a 16" by 16" all purpose microfiber towel in fourths and spray a light coating of Invisible Glass on the towel outside of the vehicle. Applying the product to the towel outside of the vehicle helps ensure you don't get any over spray on any other part of the vehicle. The biggest problem I see with streaking is detailers often over apply the glass products.

I then work in a logical pattern side to side exerting equal pressure throughout my hand and fingertips. Working slowly can help minimize streaking. I then repeat the process going up and down until I have removed all of the surface contamination that I can see.

Next I take my second microfiber towel and fold it in fourths, then spray 1 mist of distilled water and wipe down the glass in a similar pattern. This step helps ensure any chemical residue is removed and helps further ensure all the contaminates are removed from the glass. I'll then flip to a dry side and give it a complete wipe down.

My last microfiber towel is folded in fourths as well and used dry to ensure I remove any and all streaks. I really like using a glass specific microfiber towel for this last step. These towels have a tighter weave with a lower nap and make great contact with the glass to ensure no streaks are left behind. I realize this process is a little more time consuming but I find it very effective if you really want streak free glass.

For exterior glass, I follow the same steps but prep the glass with Glass Science Glass Scrub and a foam applicator pad to eliminate mineral deposits.

Seems like having the right towels is a big deal. Thanks for all the info. Have you ever tried Zaino's Clear View Glass Polish? I ordered some and wondered if it helps any on cleaning your windows. Where do you buy your Microfiber towels? I read on other post that Bed Bath and Beyond carries some high quality towels to dry your vehicle, but what about towels to polish your car or clean your windows?

Go to the city and make one of the bums spit on your window and wipe it dry with their sleeves....Lots of them in New York....lolo .....Nah just kidding...I wash my windows with windex and some paper towels, then some newspaper to get rid of the lint! It works for me

I'd get invisible glass. I use glass cleaner way too much to pay for something expensive and not readily available in my local store. Also, Invisible glass works very well.

I use microfiber towels and Sprayway glass cleaner. I was using Invisible Glass until a tint shop owner sold me a can of Sprayway. I am now able to buy it at Sam's at a much lower price.

Give it a try. :rocks:

I've been using Zaino's glass cleaner a few months now and it works great on the exterior getting hard water spots, etc clean. If you have aftermarket tint, keep it off that. It leaves a little dust sometimes, so afterward I'll go over the window with a damp mf cloth, then a dry mf. Your windows will be minty fresh in no time!

Cleaning the windows, particularly the windshield... method and products vary depending upon the need.

1. Normal car wash... windows get clean from the car wash soap and mit. I always squeegee the windows dry before using microfiber on the rest of the car. This prevents spotting.

2. A few bugs or bird drops here or there... I use Griot's window cleaner and a lint free paper cloth (the blue ones) or microfiber and clean the entire window.

3. Peppered with bugs or bird droppings, or just real dirty between washings... I take my long handled window cleaner (net covered sponge on one side and squeegee on the other) and soak it well with warm tap water. I spray one or two squirts of Simple Green on the windshield (dry) and then use the wet cleaner sponge to work the soap around and clean the windshield. The netting on the sponge does a nice job of removing dried bug juice. I then squeegee the windshield, leaving no residue.

4. On occasion, if their are baked in water spots or other deep grime, I will use Griot's light duty window polish. Leaves the glass like brand new.

I clean it with car wash soap when I washed my car. And when I am not lazy, after a clean wash, I applied rainX. RainX will make your window cleaning very easy. That material will prevent anything from etching on your glass (beside the fact that it pushes water away on rainy days). I do not do the intermediate cleaning between wash. In worst case scenario, I just use my wippers to clean the windshield in between wash.

I guess everyone has their technique for maitaining a clean glass.

When I wash, I get my windows real clean, I even clayed them inside and out a few weeks ago. The problem is that with a day or two I have smudges on them. The smudges look like I rolled the window down right after washing them but I always leave the windows up for hours (12-24) before rolling them down. I hate to have a spotless car with smudged windows. Any suggestions?

I used Zaino's glass polish yesterday and finally i have no streaks!!! I used to have the same problem when rolling down my windows, looks like there's some sort of lubrication on the window channel, which is normal. After I used Zaino's glass polish though, no smudges no more. Makes the glass look like a mirror, my windows really look like if they were tinted, it brightens the coated glass.
