Bad idea to buy the iphone snap in adapter now because iphone 5 is coming

It is a bad idea to buy the iphone snap in adapter right now because the new iphone 5 is coming before October 15.

The new iphone 5 will be bigger and the actual snap in will not be compatible.

Also it has been reported that the new iphone 5 will have a new type of conector, that is smaller that the ipad, iphone, or ipod connector that has been around for 5 years.

If money is no issue for you then buy the iphone 4 snap in adapter:

I'm a bit sad by this topic.. I expected something completely different after I saw the following on the forum index:

But, yeah, I think the majority of the people here are aware that the snap-in adapter is a bit of a ripoff and that the iphone 5 is coming soon. However, not everyone who buys the iphone 4 cradle thinks money is no issue, if someone, for example, is stuck in a 2 year contract and has to wait at least a year or more for his/her upgrade, then I doubt he/she thinks it will be such a waste. If you think like that, you might as well skip on the iphone 5 cradle as well because in a year, maybe two, after the release, it will be outdated as well

Sorry, I didn't meant to be mean to a new member, or any member for that matter, but I just kind of think it's a bit of a thing that will be different for everyone in their own little situation

Either way, I'm glad I don't have the cradle problem

I have the £160 iPhone4s Media Cradle for my 328i but I have something like another year minimum with my iPhone4s and unless the iPhone5 has some good USP's I won't be in any rush to end this contract.
Love the features the Media Cradle brings and with iOS6 offering greater comparability (especially with Office) so I would upgrade to the new Media Cradle.

5 years?
I suggest you do the math again.

The only functionality it provides beyond a cable is plugin. The antenna improvement is marginal at best

Yes it is a rip off and noisy crappy design that BMW took nearly 8 months to release after the 4 was released. Then it got pulled as it had a heat issue and then was subsequently released with the fan ....

It's a horrible accessory.

Is this a reference to the original iPhone (released in June 2007) and 5 years later on the iPhone 4S still uses the same 30-pin connector?

Doesn't seem like 5 years I must say. Still remember my 'brick-sized' first mobile phone - its battery was bigger than an iPhone!

I was referring to that Apple have used the 30-pin connector since iPod generation 3. So almost 10 years now (in 2013). So it is A LOT of equipment in peoples homes and surroundings that needs to be changed if they redesign the dock connector.

Ya I too can't believe they are going to change the connector. But I have read a few rumours indicating that as well.
