Suspension replacement advice for a 328i
Hi all, I got my hands on a 2007 328i with a factory non-sport suspension some 2 years ago, and since then I've put about 30,000 miles on the car. So here she is now with 115,000 miles and I'm starting to think that it's due for an all round shock/spring overhaul.
So, I thought I'd ask around for recommendations on good shock/spring replacement choices. I mostly use the car for city driving on a daily basis, with the occasional roadtrip here and there, and don't really intend to track it. So, my preference is really ride comfort. I'm also looking for something that would lower the ride height a bit (I upgraded to 17" Style 188s some time back and the car now looks like it's sitting a little high). Glancing around e90post it seems the popular kit choices are the Eibach Pro System and the H&R Touring/Sport Cup Kits. Which one is more suited for the kind of driving above? Are there other options I'm missing out on? Also, what other components are recommended for replacement when replacing shocks/springs at this mileage? Cheers and thanks! |

I've been using Stv1 coilovers, my family doesn't notice a harsh ride, they don't complain, young and old. You can change the height and get the comfort.
Replacing anything, I'm not sure. I plan on m3 suspension by next year, I'm at 57k miles right now. |

Ok, thanks for the input Route 16... The 'other components' I was curious if needing replacement were parts like the strut mounts, strut bearings, spring seats, etc. I've seen some posts saying that the strut bearings will wear out over time. I was wondering if anyone else has seen these components needing replacement on their E90s while changing out their suspensions (or if there's a good way to tell before actually starting to take the suspension apart), especially once the car passes the 100,000 mile mark.

Something else you could consider is the BMW Performance Suspension kit. A trouble-free upgrade.
http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...catalogid=4462 Will lower the ride height a tiny bit, I think it's 10-15mm lower than your car would be with the sport package.

You can also purchase a 3-series Strut/Shock Mount Kit, I installed one of these kits when installing coil-overs, check the link, http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-11...n-m-or-xi.aspx

That is the conclusion I am coming too also for a daily driver. Let us know what you think after you get it done. There are so many positive reviews of this system on Tire Rack that it must be good.

Sure thing, will do... I'll probably wait till later in the summer or early fall to take care of this, when the weather gets cooler. It's incredibly warm in the garage at the moment!
