Warped Rotors 16000 KM?

Hey, i was wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this? I have a 2011 328i XDrive as stated above it only has 16000 KM and the rear rotors are warped? This seems really premature i called the dealer and they said that it's most likely not covered because thats too many KM? seriously this does not make any sense for a car of this caliber? Please anyone that might have expierenced this i live in Canada so keep that in mind when thinking warrenties!

Well, a warped rotor is hardly a mechanical failure. It is most commonly caused by external factors, such as extreme heat (too much hard breaking), rotor got wet when hot or hit by something.

It could also be caused by faulty brake pads, but I guess you would notice if a break pad is not working well.

Warped rotors can also be caused by the driver. If u have to panic stop real hard from high speed ( get them red hot ) and u hold u foot on the brake pedal while stopped, this can and will warp the rotors.

At the very least this will deposit material on the contact spot on the rotors which may feel like warped rotors.

i understand what can cause a warped rotor but i have not done anything to cause this to happen! I have not done any panic stops or anything like this, it makes not sense on how this can happen so quickly im wondering about the deposits. I was thinking about taking off the wheel and cleaning the rotors also if it was warped because of a panic stop you would think it would be the front more so then the rear.

Agreed. Maybe a sticking caliper or hand brake too tight is causing excessive heat. Jack it up and see if rear wheels roll free.

If your car is under warranty and based on model year and mileage of your car it is I would take to the dealer and request to have the problem checked and if in fact the rotors are warped have them replaced under warranty. That's what 4 years 80 000 km free maintenance plane is for. And if they give you grief, just call BMW Canada.

Warped rotors are rarely warped. Most commonly, deposit of pad material is provoking pulsating brakes, not actual rotor warp, and a resurfacing is enough to fix the issue.
